Many people are voicing their opinions about the verdict in the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case. It is evident that the celebrity trial attracted a lot of public attention and that it did not please everyone. Whoopi Goldberg as well as her colleagues are included in this group. The View hosts, and it is for one of the most outrageous and unnecessary of reasons.
“So, is it just that people now have to find something else to do because now you know they’re not going to pay the same attention to the January 6 Committee, you know people aren’t going to be all into that,” complained Goldberg, asking those around her “is it why people are asking of these questions?”
Long-time host Joy Behar admitted that she “did not watch this at all”, but still decided to take a swipe at Depp by noting: “Donald Jr. and Megyn Kelly and a few others think that Johnny Depp was right, so take what you can from that.”
So from the looks of that statement, the results of the trial cannot be good at all if Donald Trump Jr. and others like him support it (according to Behar’s on-par judgment).
The complaints about the trial continued in full-swing thanks to the show’s special guest: “conservative” commentator Tara Setmayer. She rambled about the amount of attention the trial was getting, talking about the memes, how Depp did his “Captain Jack Sparrow voice” at one point, and how she just didn’t “like the celebrity spectacle of it.”
However, after that, she agreed with Goldberg by stating “more people care about this than they will about the January 6 hearings next week and in the next couple weeks,” expressing that this lowly celebrity trial is dwarfed by the importance of the Democrat-led January 6 Committee.
Setmayer proclaimed the importance of the hearings by exclaiming that they are “actually about defending our democracy and an insurrection.” What was more striking was when she said January 6 and its aftermath are things that “affects all of us in this country.”
Viewers took the time to stop and reflect, perhaps even rolling their eyes as they watched this segment. The infamous January 6 events took place over a year ago and Americans are preoccupied with trying to get by day-to-day with inflation and gas prices soaring.
The trial also involved an actor who played the iconic pirate in film and another actress who appeared alongside Jason Momoa’s Aquaman movie. It is likely that more people will want to see that trial than what happened over a decade ago.
People on the Left have made January 6 a political issue, trying to turn it into an issue in an election year. With that being said, Americans trying to survive on a meager income shouldn’t focus their attention on an event that is not directly relevant to them. Most Americans are able to move on from events that occurred more than a year ago.
Carvana & Macy’s were able to make this media bias example.

Eastern Time: 11:17:30WHOOPI GOLDBERG – Welcome back! This case was one of the most salacious and high-profile in recent history. Johnny Depp, Amber Heard and others were found guilty of defaming one another. Depp received a little more than 10 million dollars while Heard was awarded 2 million. Now, some people called the verdict a big win for Depp and a big blow to the #MeToo movement and vice versa.
So, is it just that people now have to find something else to do because now you know they’re not going to pay the same attention to the January 6 committee, you know people aren’t going to be all into that. People need spectacle.
TARA SETMAYER
GOLDBERG: Do you think that’s why so many people ask these kinds of questions?
SUNNY HOSTIN: Well—
GOLDBERG: Anybody?
HOSTIN: I started following the trial. People were shocked that Johnny Depp won. He actually won the libel trial in all counts and it was a jury trial so you have five men and two women and they said across the board, that he prevailed in 3 counts of defamation. Amber Heard lost the case. She won one count. But it was his lawyer who defamed Amber Heard, and not Johnny Depp. And so—
GOLDBERG – So who pays this? Who pays that, because—does Johnny Depp have to pay that since it was his lawyer?
HOSTIN: Yeah- uhh- I’m not sure how he’s going to work that out with his lawyer right, but she has to pay him over $10 million and the jury actually awarded him $15 million but there was a cap of $350,000 so he’s not going to get all that money.
But I think don’t it’s the death of the #MeToo movement because if you really look at the stats, while one in three women certainly are physically abused, 1 in 4 men are physically abused. So, the notion that the #MeToo movement only applies to women is really a misnomer.

SETMAYER: And I just don’t like the celebrity spectacle of it because like Whoopi said, more people care about this than they will about the January 6 hearings next week and in the next couple weeks, which is actually about defending our democracy and an insurrection that affects all of us in this country, not some stupid celebrity trial you know, when they’re yelling and sniping at each other. It is important to not minimize or diminish those issues.
JOY BEAR: No, this was not something that I saw. However, I know Donald Jr., Megyn Kelly, and others believe that Johnny Depp is right. So take what you can. That’s all I have to say about it, I have no idea what went on.
