‘The View’ Accuses Justice Thomas of Being a Race Traitor, ACB Not ‘a Woman’

It is the vile cruelty of The View coven was really pulsing on Thursday as the panel used Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement announcement to lash out at Justices Clarence Thomas and Amy Coney Barrett. Together, they accused Thomas of being a race traitor and wasn’t the correct kind of black man to replace Justice Thurgood Marshall. With Coney Barrett, they used air quotes when noting she’s “a woman” and suggested she’s a traitor to women.

The entire segment was filled with bigotry. It first reared its ugly head when co-host Sunny Hostin suggested Thomas didn’t care about other black people:

HAINES : The representation was more important than anything. You also pointed out the first ever black woman. Two black men were present. These figures are quite shocking.

SUNNY HOSTIN But one does not represent the black community.

HAINES: No.

A few minutes later, co-host Joy Behar busted out the air quotes when it came to Coney Barrett’s womanhood and Thomas’s blackness. “You could make the case that somebody like Amy Coney Barrett was put in there because she’s a white woman,” she griped. “Who they say, well, she’ll go against abortion rights and she’s ‘a woman.’ So that was deliberate, I think. Clarence Thomas, ‘a black guy, a black man,’ a justice, okay, I’ll give it to him.”

Adding: “While he may be smart, he seems to be more like Attila The Hun than a man of his intelligence. He was put in because he said that black men would oppose voting rights.

Thank you white-woman Joy Behar for giving your permission for Thomas to have the title and dignity that he’s earned through his long career, hard work, and dedication to the Constitution.

Hostin responded by building off of the idea that Thomas wasn’t the correct kind of black person to be on the Supreme Court. “Appointing Clarence Thomas and his ideas to Thurgood Marsh, a civil-rights activist, is extremely disrespectful,” she sneered.

But that wasn’t the only unhinged thing Behar launched into during the segment. Without any context, She and Whoopi Goldberg accused Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell defying the law regarding the Supreme Court.

BEHAR The fact that Mitch McConnell doesn’t know the laws when it comes down to the Supreme Court.

GOLDBERG: They’re familiar with the law. They are not adhering to it.They won’t follow it. Here’s the problem.

BEHAR: And he’s allowed to not follow it.

And before that, Behar went on a rant declaring the entire judiciary a “It is a dictatorial branch within the government.” “That particular branch of government always feels anti-democracy to me.,” she whined. “This seems like an absurdity to call a democracy institution..”

Moron, indeed.

SARA HAINES – Given our current court structure, we need to ensure that there is another liberal in the room. You also pointed out that the representation is more important than any other. Two black men were the only ones. These figures are quite shocking.

SUNNY HOSTIN : One doesn’t represent all of the black communities.

HAINES: No. My point is the additional diversity I believe is important. I noticed that when people talk about potential justice they often mention the Ivy League. The Ivy League is always mentioned. Everyone is in Harvard and Yale except Amy Coney Barrett who’s Notre Dame.

JOY BEHAR: This is the dictatorial arm of government that makes up the Supreme Court. These people are chosen by their constituents. They are not accountable to the nation. They’re there for their entire lives. They can only be removed by impeaching them. This is not an easy process.

This particular branch of government always feels anti-democracy to me. You can have your people stay on forever because they are willing to agree with you. This is why there are no term restrictions. This seems like an absurdity to label democratic institutions.

HOSTIN: This refers to the judiciary.

BEHAR: Yes.

WHOOPI GLOBBERG:

BEHAR: Who they say, well, she’ll go against abortion rights and she’s a “woman.” So that was deliberate, I think. Clarence Thomas, who is black, a man of color, and justice. Okay, I will. While he may be smart, he has the same mind as Attila, the Hun. He was put in because he would be against voting rights.

HOSTIN: This was an awful —

BEHAR To top it all, Mitch McConnell doesn’t know the laws when it comes the Supreme Court.

GOLDBERG They aren’t following the law. They aren’t willing to. Here’s the problem.

BEHAR: And he’s allowed to not follow it.

HOSTIN: It is incredibly disrespectful to nominate someone like Clarence Thomas, who has his philosophical views to Thurgood Marshall’s seat. Thurgood Marshall is a civil right activist.

BEHAR: It’s me.

[Crosstalk]

GOLDBERG: His wife is right there.

HOSTIN: With his wife’s activities involving the insurrection.
