One would assume that Democrats would cut the stops on many of their agendas after Terry McAuliffe was elected governor of Virginia and start to curb their wild ideas. But, just like their jealous dog, they are determined to keep what is most valuable. They’ll see their own party torn apart and destroyed.
Recent events in San Francisco saw a revolt by the parents that led to the recall of three of the members of the San Francisco school board. With a fourth member likely to follow, the two-thirds of those on the ballot will be removed. RedState has previously reported that San Francisco’s majority agreed with these high-ranking school board members to be fired due to incompetence.
One problem with Mayor London Breed’s appointment is that she is a hard left politician. As such, the problem could continue. However, there is always an opportunity to solve it. If people were wanting to free San Francisco from the hard-left oppression it’s currently under, then now is the time to make the case for it.
Democrats need to be scared by the recall. This wasn’t some midwestern Democrat-leaning small-town. This is San Francisco we’re talking about. It is like a Smurf-choking blue. And here are its inhabitants revolting at the injustice of things. They desire something more reasonable and less gauche. The country needs to hear the clamors of Democrat HQs everywhere.
However, few seem to be paying close attention. One person, in particular, is former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg who could be considered a leftist’s leftist. He can see the writing and even wrote an entire article at Bloomberg’s publication in order to highlight the obvious.
Three months after Republicans scored major election upsets in Virginia and New Jersey, largely because of the frustration parents felt with Democratic officials who catered to teachers’ unions and culture warriors at the expense of children, voters in San Francisco recalled three school board members by margins of nearly three to one. Coming from America’s most liberal city, those results should translate into a 7 to 8 on the Richter scale, because the three main factors that drove the recall are not unique to the Bay Area.
Bloomberg then explained his three points, firstly that school board members were more concerned with the desires and wishes of teacher’s unions and “culture warriors” than the students, keeping public schools closed when it was clearly safe to open them and causing long-lasting damage to the children’s futures, especially those of lower-income.
Second, school board members cared more about political correctness and kids than they did children. Because they believed the names of these people were racist, this included focusing on school renaming instead of important issues.
They also eliminated merit-based admissions to top schools. This was a decision that even Bloomberg admitted only damaged the community. It angered families who had worked so hard for their child’s success and led to a rebellion.
Bloomberg said voters need to hear that Democrats understand that what the San Francisco school board did was a mistake and should never have happened if they’re to make it seem like the issue was an isolated problem and overall, Democrats are much smarter. He warned if this isn’t done soon, November is going to be a time of huge losses for Democrats.
Maybe they’ll take his advice, but the issue for Democrats is that the inherent collectivism makes it a lumbering beast, and putting a stop to it when it was going at full speed is a tough thing to do. The left was, and is, all-in on this idea that teacher’s unions and school boards should be making decisions on what kids learn in their community’s schools, not the parents. The parents are mocked openly by them.
Sheer hubris keeps Democrats on a crash course and, at least for midterms, they begin trying to reverse course even now but it’s all fresh in the minds of voters. This is the moment when the titanic will hit an iceberg, but it should serve as a lesson for Democrats.
