The Overturning Roe v. WadeThe news cycle has shifted back to January 6th, because what else? Recent mass shootings in Illinois.
The issue is still a topic of hot debate for pollsters, who appear to enjoy producing results that criticize the landmark Supreme Court decision. Over and over, we are told that Americans don’t support the ending of Roe (and Casey? in place of Dobbs judgment.
However, is this really true? But is this really true?
We have new polling data #Dobbs:
1) Turning #RoeVsWade: Support – 45%/55% Oppose
2) 37% of respondents would prohibit abortion completely with only incest and rape exceptions
39% of respondents support an abortion ban within 6 weeks
4) 72%!! support abortion ban after 15wks https://t.co/SA1t369bL3

8) 36% of respondents #DobbsIt makes it more probable that they will vote GOP for ’22. However, 36% of them are more inclined to vote Dem.; 29% no difference

The results of these polls are mind-numbing, as they reveal a lot of contradictions. 55% don’t approve of overturning Roe. However, 44% of respondents believe states should have the right to create their own abortion laws.
But the biggest “huh” moment comes when you see that 72 percent (!) 72% of Americans think that abortion should not be allowed after fifteen weeks. What does that mean? Roe (and Casey) were reversed
To summarize, you’ve got far more than a super-majority in favor of a provision that requires the ending of something they claim they don’t support ending. Again, it’s just mind-numbing.
Are Americans really that dumb? Or are they being fed so much misinformation that they don’t even know that they hold contradictory positions? Most likely, the latter. In their constant attempt to conjure up the ending of Roe with a supposed federal ban on abortion that simply doesn’t exist. Sometimes pollsters will also make as offensive a question as possible about the court decisions.
Still, what we are seeing even in the contradictions of this poll is that Americans’ true feelings are far more in line with the Republican position than the Democrat position. Almost everyone opposes abortion up to birth. This is the current platform of the Democrat Party. Further, and perhaps most importantly, the idea that the Supreme Court decision would drive Democrat enthusiasm doesn’t appear to be true. Both Democrats and Republicans are within a few percentage points of one another in the poll on whether they support or oppose Supreme Court decision. Dobbs It will increase their likelihood of voting for one party. However, 29 percent said it would make no difference. This is, my view, the most likely result.
To end, I’ll speculate that Republicans are winning on this issue. The support is decreasing in general polling. Roe The issue polling clearly favors GOP positions, however. Lastly, it’s fairly obvious this isn’t going to be a deciding factor in November’s mid-terms. That’s terrible news for a Democrat Party that desperately needed a game-changer.
