the Mainstream Media Should Never Be Trusted in a Courtroom Again – Opinion

Judge Bruce Schroeder has had to deal with one circus after the other in his case against Kyle Rittenhouse. Between the prosecution that has deliberately attempted to hide video evidence to the cacophony of media nonsense being heaped upon it, Schroeder’s job has been made all the harder.

As my colleague Nick Arama reported, Schroeder expressed his frustration toward the media and its “grossly irresponsible handling” of what happened in the trial, and to be sure, the mainstream media has been nothing but toxic toward Rittenhouse and even Schroeder. The entire thing has made him rethink media being in the courtroom during trials he presides over, an issue he’s never questioned before.

As my colleague highlighted, the media spearheaded various attacks on Schroeder himself, including his “God Bless the USA” ringtone, as well as an innocent joke about Asian food being stuck at a port that the media, of course, deemed as somewhat racist.

This was accompanied by various misrepresentations of the trial’s events, such as ABC burying the key testimony of Gaige Grosskreutz which effectively bombed the prosecution’s case.

It’s this media repositioning of the facts that have caused a shadow to fall over the entire case in the public, and may even lead to more rioting in Kenosha if some activists get their way. It is true that more destruction can be expected wherever media cameras are focused.

Roland Fryer from Harvard, an economist, proved this fact. He set out to investigate if police actually cause the deaths and destruction of blacks. His research revealed that the police are actually saving lives. Black lives are often destroyed and killed by riots. These riots tend to be concentrated in the areas that the media is most focused on reporting.

This is the pattern: when media start reporting on an incident it creates outrage. This usually leads to the denigration of some figures, most often police. Police are responsible for stopping crime from occurring in the first instance through proactive police. After the media unleashes its fury, politicians begin to lament about police and become much less confident in their work. The police may be reprimanded by the politicians in extreme situations.

As the police retreat, this leads to increased violence. Fryer discovered that minority communities suffer more in such cases.

The media has painted Rittenhouse’s trial as biased and unfair, even though there is clear evidence that Rittenhouse is innocent. The media is orchestrating society’s view of Rittenhouse and his defense lawyers, Schroder, as pariahs throughout their entire lives. They may even be encouraging another riot, or violent actions against other people.

Schroeder seems to be on the right path. Media should be prevented from entering courtrooms or in high-profile cases. Media can not only distort the facts, they could also be a source of further harm.
