The Biden Administration Shifts Again on COVID-19, Now Admits Long-known Facts About Comorbidities – Opinion

It’s been a banner few days for the Biden administration and COVID-19. About a week ago, we got the stunning declaration from the president that there is no “federal solution” to the pandemic, something many of us on the right have been saying since the beginning. Will Ron DeSantis, who has been repeatedly attacked by the White House as needing to “get out of the way” of the federal government, get an apology letter?

Then there was this weekend’s bombshell admission by CDC Dir. Rochelle Walensky revealed that the death tolls of those who died are different. WithCOVID vs. people who died becauseOf COVID. Anyone who suggested this was labeled a conspiracy theorist trying to minimize the pandemic for nearly two decades. Now, because it’s politically convenient for Joe Biden, things are suddenly shifting to include more nuance.

Walensky finally admitted to another important admission. He cited data on COVID-19, comorbidities, and increased risk. However, the intelligent set rebuked Walensky’s past calls for people to be more concerned about their own health.

This fact, to be certain, is not new. We’ve known for a very long time that comorbidities are a key factor in judging someone’s risk from COVID, with a combination of being immunocompromised due to advanced age and obesity being the most common situation. Yet, here, Walensky isn’t just saying that one comorbidity makes the difference. She’s saying that 75% of deaths occurred in people with at least Four comorbidities.

Some of us pointed out that fact since 2020’s spring, but we were criticized for wanting grandma to die. However, the purpose of downplaying elderly deaths was never to be taken lightly. Instead, the point was to emphasize that mitigation must be managed according to specific demographics’ inherent risks. There was no reason to lock down healthy 18-49-year-olds who are not obese and get out of work. Due to the low risk of these demographics, it was never necessary for them to be vaccinated. Walensky’s admission also put the final nail in the coffin on the idea that children need to be vaccinated, a demographic that faces essentially no risk at all.

After the realization that the virus could spread, it was essential to protect the sick and elderly with vaccines and isolation while still allowing everyone else to live their lives. This was evident by the middle of 2020.

More nuanced mitigation strategies could have saved thousands of people from the increased death of despair due to lockdowns. It would also have allowed for many more people to gain natural immunity earlier, who otherwise would not be at significant risk. This is what Omicron looks like, but if we had done the same thing as Sweden, it might not have happened.

Walensky also repeated comments that she made months ago regarding the fact that vaccines do not stop the spread of the virus.

There is no justification to mandate vaccine passports or mandates if vaccines don’t stop the transmission of disease. Unfortunately, the Washington politicians and the mainstream media are so invested in causing division that they’ll never make that connection.

In the end, you can just chalk all of this up to right-wing news sites being well ahead of the curve on what’s true and what’s not. It’s becoming difficult to keep up with the list of facts that have been proven correct and were once called conspiracy theories months ago.
