The Biden Administration Makes an Idiotic Move on Gas Prices That Is Sure to Fail – Opinion

Gas prices in America continue to rise out of control. While gas prices in the South have risen to $3.00 per gallon, they still have a lot to go compared with California which recently had a station charging $7.00 per gallon. That’s enough to make Europe blush.

(see media coverage for Joe Biden: Gas prices rise to levels not seen since Joe Biden was VP).

All of it was, however, self-inflicted by the country, and not consumers. It was done by the Biden administration, pandering towards far-left beliefs about climate change completely devastating the planet.

So what’s the solution? Do you drill domestically more? To open Keystone XL, and other pipelines. To let more fracking take place and to offer domestic leases? Nah, it’s to beg a bunch of terrorist sympathizing countries in the Middle East to pump more oil in the dirtiest way possible.

There’s a lot of stupidity involved in this, but let’s focus on the fact that we all live on the same planet. What I mean by that is that if the American left is concerned about climate change, they aren’t fighting it by blocking cleaner energy production (including natural gas) domestically. OPEC is actually increasing oil production in the desert, which only exacerbates the problem. If a large portion of this production involves natural gas and the construction of more new-generation nuclear power plants, then it makes sense to increase domestic production. In a period of stagnant economy and out-of control inflation, this would create jobs.

But there’s too much common sense involved in that proposition, and the administration is not operating based on logic. Instead, it is a huge self-destructive virtue signal that the whole war against domestic energy production. It does not make sense on a rational level, even if one’s goal is to lower emissions. Biden blew Keystone XL up anyway, because he felt that pink-haired lefties blocking highways would feel they were saving the planet.

Normal Americans continue to pay the cost of rising energy prices, and not only at the pump but also at home, which eats into their already small paychecks.

Lastly, let’s just note that crying to OPEC isn’t going to work. They don’t give in to American pressure, and they aren’t motivated to. That move didn’t work under Barack Obama and it’s not going to work now. The answer is still more domestic production. That the Biden administration won’t do everything in their power to help economically embattled Americans is yet another black mark on an already thoroughly marked-up administration.

Of course, I shouldn’t be surprised. He is also the president who left Americans behind in Afghanistan’s enemy lines, and so it is not surprising that he would abandon people.
