The American Trucker Convoy Is a Really Good Idea – Opinion

It is getting closer to the State of the Union Address Tuesday night in Washington D.C., where the American Trucker Convoy will be arriving. Actually, I don’t think that but I felt like I needed a little pizzaz as an opening line so I will continue to power through now that I have made that statement.

But, I have one point. It is about a piece that my colleague wrote. Bonchie wrote here Monday titled, “It’s really a bad idea to send the American Trucker Convoy..” I suggest you give that post a look before you read mine so you are following along with my points.

His article was very clear and I understood his views about the clear goal of the protest. His concern about the media never giving a fair chance to anything even slightly conservative or anti-Ice Cream Joe is my understanding. Bonchie supports what occurred in Canada as well as me. He and other RedState colleagues have written many articles about the Great White North.

In the opening of his piece, I am in agreement with nearly everything he says.

It is no secret that I supported the Freedom Convoy in Canada. Their cause seemed just to me, and the arrest of PM Justin Trudeau was really authoritarian.

However, the thing that made that movement unique was its clear goal to get rid of federal mandates that vaccine truck drivers. Although ideological borders were sometimes stretched, there was no doubt that Freedom Convoy was fighting to achieve something concrete and just.

So, why is this American trucker caravan protesting the vaccines? The United States does not have a federal mandate to immunize truckers or private workers. Nearly all COVID-19 mandates have been lifted at the state and local levels. Further, the fact that the U.S. is a republic has always presented a far different dynamic compared to Canada’s top-down, federal control of the populace. In short, you cannot have a successful political movement if it isn’t focused, and if the point is just to bait law enforcement in hopes of getting attention on CNN, that doesn’t seem like a very good reason for its existence.

While I admit that it is not the same message and organization that was used by the Canadian convoy, the one headed for D.C. has. Bonchie recognizes that this goal evolved over the three week period that Ottawa was closed for protest. But, the United States Federal mandate must be repealed. Within a week of Trudeau’s introduction, the Biden administration mandated that truckers coming back from Mexico and Canada must have vax.

Last week, the Republicans of the United States Senate presented a bill that would repeal the Biden mandate.

Starting at Press release:

Washington, D.C. — U.S. The U.S. Capitol — Washington D.C. Senators Marco Rubio, Rick Scott (R–FL), MarshaBlackburn (R–TN), Mike Braun and Kevin Cramer (R–ND), Josh Hawley and Roger Marshall (R–KS) introduced the Terminating Unnecessary and Reckless Checks Known To Erode Regular Shipping (TRUCKERS Act). For non-U.S. citizens traveling by commercial truck from Canada or Mexico, the TRUCKERS Act will eliminate the requirement to provide proof of vaccination.

Congressman Carlos Giménez (R-FL) will introduce companion legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives this week.

“The Biden Administration’s decision to impose a vaccine mandate on cross-border truckers transporting goods to and from Americans makes zero sense,” Rubio said. “Our bill will put an end to this craziness, help relieve the ongoing supply chain crisis, and restore freedom for North American truckers.”

Bonchie, like I mentioned, has not clearly communicated this. Most people have no clue about the Administration’s vax requirement for cross-border truckers and might think this is just solely a reaction to what happened in Canada.

My disagreement with my respected colleague lies in the way he states this:

Rather, the reason I’m addressing the matter is because of how politically stupid it is.

Joe Biden does not only need to be on the ropes. He’s been thrown out of the ring already. The president’s latest approval numbers are horrific, and with the Russian invasion of Ukraine underway, leading to serious issues abroad and at home, things could actually get worse. It’s not just Biden who’s in the dumps, though. The congressional generic ballot is dominated by Republicans. 2022 looks set to become a major wave year for Republicans.

Political stupidity is when the GOP, or any other political observer thinks Kevin McCarthy will become Speaker of the House less than John Boehner. This is because McCarthy is a close friend and roommate with Frank Luntz. (Tucker Carlson targets McCarthy because of his ties to Frank Luntz (GOP pollster)). You can read more about the disaster coming in another blog post.

I was able to hear similar arguments in the Tea Party days. It seemed like they were just trying to play it safe, and would wait until next year. You don’t know what it got you? This gave rise to Obamacare, 12 years later. It got us a larger government that’s just not as large (kinda) when the R’s are in charge.

Bonchie has it right. The Biden administration is a catastrophe. In my opinion, the overall fear that another Jan 6th could occur and take some of the steam out of the Biden team sinking is playing defense and we don’t have time for that anymore. We are in major trouble in this country and the Republicans must not play defense if they win the November election. One way you do that is to show up at places they are — including Washington D.C. Let them know you are watching and will be voting and will tell all your friends to vote for or against them. You can be polite and let them know, but they are not allowed to fill their hot air balloons full of political rhetoric.

You already hate the media, so don’t fret about what they say or spin. It is not something that I lightly say, but this has been shown every day. Main Street Americans are hated by the mainstream media, which we’ve allowed to continue spinning their lies for far too long. I don’t think it is worth worrying about Jake Tapper’s rants on CNN and other alphabet news outlets regarding events that are attended by real Americans. You will be called a racist and homophobe and/or hateful of all pronouns, regardless of whether or not you attend a rally.

So I guess I’m just sick of being defensive for essentially breathing or because I have the damn audacity of thinking and writing Let’s Make Words Mean Things Again.

You will undoubtedly be reading about Andrew Breitbart’s 10th anniversary tomorrow. While I never knew him personally, we had many good times and shared a common interest in the conversation. He influenced my views on the media today. His greatest push it back in your face moment was the type of smearjob that lefties love.

A gaggle of Democrats including John Lewis claimed that protestors at Capitol Hill had used the N word to Lewis as they passed them during a rally/gathering for Tea Party people in 2010. Breitbart’s team analyzed hours of video from cell phones and couldn’t find evidence to support this claim. Andrew later stated that he was certain this didn’t happen. 10,000 dollar rewardFor any evidence that the slur was used. Although no one has ever received that reward, I can imagine someone could 12 years later find proof.

It is likely that media repeated a lying story that had been told by specialists in lying. There were never any apologies and they will not be.

We are hated by the left and they will ruin you, whether you attend a rally or post something on Facebook that offends them or hurts your feelings. I believe the time to care about their thoughts is over, and Canadians gave us some perspective.

Get your cell phones out of the way tomorrow to have a great rally. If some idiots get out of line, grab a cop, and don’t let them ruin your right to protest the idiotic things the government does on a daily basis.

That is what America should be doing.
