Terry McAuliffe Appears With Wild Conspiracy Theorist to Trash Parents for Protecting Their Children – Opinion

Terry McAuliffe thinks he’s found a response to parents concerned for the well-being of their children in the face of abusive, harmful school boards: trashing them as “right-wing” culture warriors.

McAuliffe joined Joy Reid last night to discuss his absurd campaign. While doing so, he dismissed the swath of Virginia parents who are pushing back, claiming the entire ordeal is just about wanting to “ban books” instead of protecting children.

Usually, when you are in a tight race, you don’t highlight your own negatives and purposely isolate a demographic you need, but McAuliffe seems to be operating from a place of unwarranted confidence following Barack Obama’s visit. You’ll recall that the former president started the “this is just a culture war” line at a recent rally. After multiple sexual assaults were revealed by Virginia schools boards, McAuliffe started the “this is just a culture war” line. McAuliffe now believes all parental concerns were trumped-up by racism.

Parents aren’t buying it.

Maybe McAuliffe has some strategy here, but I’m not seeing it. All this looks more like desperateness, a campaign that lacks a clear message and has no rudder. He can only say the name “Trump” so many times, and past that, what issues is he even running on? Protection of books that encourage pedophilia Schools should not be able to shut down parents upset about the sexual abuse of their children.

Joy Reid can’t even go along with him. Out of all the left-wing hosts that he could have appeared on, he selected the most insane. A person who spends most her time pronouncing death to democracy and spinning conspiracy theories about January 6. He also asserts that Ron DeSantis has been a murderer. That’s who he obliged to give his final pitch? That’s a bold move, I suppose.

McAuliffe’s hopes were also thwarted by a report that Donald Trump wasn’t going to visit Virginia in the run-up to the election. I speculated that he wouldn’t in my initial write-up on Trump’s statement last night, and that seems to be confirmed now. McAuliffe is now left wondering where? McAuliffe isn’t able to find the distraction that he desperately desired. Are he planning to waste the last days of his campaign chasing after parents who care about their children?

I don’t know how this race turns out, but man would it be some serious poetic justice if McAuliffe ended up losing in what is a D+10 state. I haven’t seen a worse candidate since probably Hillary Clinton.
