Many polls show that immigration isn’t a top concern for over 60 millions Hispanics. However, they are negatively impacted by Bidenflation (violent crime) and increased immigration. But from what the public heard over a Telemundo report on the news intake habits of Latinos, the lack of interest on the subject is due to the ´anti-immigrant disinformation´ aimed at Hispanics to “change the way we vote, change the way we understand our community and the values we have”, to ultimately ´dehumanize´ immigrants.
United We Dream Action, the lobbying, advocacy, and electoral arm for the progressive United We Dream PAC made the claim in a publicly available report titled Latinx Stories of Immigration in the US Media: Latinx Meets With ItTelemundo anchor Felicidad Aveleyra presented the fact as “true” and was supported with no pushback.
FELICIDAD AVELEYRA – A study of news intake patterns has revealed troubling trends in Hispanics’ attitudes towards immigration. United We Dream Action has concluded that Latinos older than 36 years old are more susceptible to negative information regarding immigration.

JUANITA MONSILVE: The real purpose of this anti-immigrant group is to alter the voting system, the understanding and values in our communities as well as the vote. When we consume such information, it is filled with lies and false narratives, which help to push racist policies, dehumanize immigrants, and promote racism.

AVELEYRA – What you’re saying is extremely important. They are trying to mislead them into thinking they don’t have the power in this country.
…
It is the fear of being unable to achieve their dreams or be empowered in any way, not even here.
Aveleyra’s exchange with Juanita Monsalve (Creative and Marketing Director at UWDA), revealed that the motives behind the study are not related to the well-being and welfare of migrants. Rather, the goal is to control the narrative, the stories and the storytellers reaching Latinos, We see this strategy being used on a daily base in Spanish-speaking media.
Remember the 10-year-old Nicaraguan boy called Wilto Eniel GutiérrezThe woman was found by an off-duty Border Patrol officer alone, in tears and who the corporate media exploited over prime-time to advance their political agenda for several weeks. Or “whipping” hoax, now proven to be FAKE NEWSGod forbid that the Latino radio waves are told the truth.
Take a look at one of the UWDA report objectives that clearly pave the way for indoctrinating Latinos intrusively and forcibly, through seemingly innocent “storytelling” tactics in step with the Spanish-speaking corporate media:
The research will provide information for communication strategies that practitioners in pro-immigration advocacy. We can create more impactful stories by identifying the media audiences are most interested in and the opportunities they offer, including placement, messaging, influencers, to tell them.

FELICIDAD AVELEYRA – A study of news intake patterns has revealed troubling trends in Hispanics’ attitudes towards immigration. United We Dream Action has concluded that Latinos older than 36 years old are more susceptible to negative information regarding immigration.Hispanic males under 35 years old are less interested in immigration. Women between the ages of 18 and 35 are more concerned about migration than men. Juanita Monsalve is the Creative and Marketing Director at United We Dream Action. We are happy to discuss this subject. Juanita welcome, please let us know your thoughts on the study.
JUANITA MONSALVE : Thanks so much. It was a joy to share this experience with you, your viewers. United We Dream Action found it to be both alarming, alarming, and also energizing. There is an enormous content gap among Latino youth regarding information on immigrants and their immigrant experiences. We are excited to share this information with you.
AVALEYRA – But what does that mean? What is it to be exposed?
MONSALVE: Well, look. The importance of these numbers has a lot in common with the electorate. Because it helps us understand new Latinos, which are growing in number and becoming eligible voters, this analysis is extremely important. Each 30 second, a Latino becomes 18 years old and can vote. It is important for us to understand and talk about how these information affects Latinos. This anti-immigrant movement really wants to change how we vote and understand each other. This information is misleading and false. It promotes racist policies and makes it difficult to understand the needs of immigrants. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to the food we are eating.
AVELEYRA – What you’re saying is extremely important. These misinformations want to confuse them about the exact power they have.
MONSALVE: We must have cultural content. It is working with women. These young men are very interested in stories and immigrant experiences. However, there have been changes among Latino youth: instead of consuming such content, they prefer to live in fantasy or video game worlds. This is why we need to think seriously about how to bridge the huge content gap with Latino youth, as they may be consuming anti-immigrant content all day.
AVELEYRA – And that they aren’t empowered to realize their dreams, even though they live in the country. We ask you to help the girls around us by being a role model for them. Juanita, thank you for sharing this valuable information.
