Teen Vogue Op Ed Touts Non Citizen Voting – Opinion

“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 26

Our public schools have been emptied of God and His perfect Word for a long time by the Secular Progressives. Unfortunately, this hasn’t stopped them from using Biblical wisdom as a means to teach our youth their socialist destructive views. One of those views is the belief in open borders and allowing non-citizens – whether they are here legally or illegally – to vote in our elections.

Teen Vogue The piece, which is named after a teenage audience and is targeted at teenagers, was written by a non-citizen voter who ran a pro-noncitizen-voting op-ed this week. This piece was created by a “movement worker”At the Texas Civil Rights Project. The tweet below will give you an idea of where they stand on protecting America’s southern border:

He attempts to prove that it is absurd. “faith in our democracy” We can restore the rights to vote for those illegally entered into this country.

But for the nearly 25 million noncitizens living in the United States, election season is just another opportunity to be excluded from the democratic process…As faith in our democracy dwindles and federal voting rights legislation remains stalled in Washington, there has never been a better moment to make good on the nation’s democratic ideals and expand suffrage to all noncitizens — documented and undocumented — living in the United States.

This is what the non-citizen voting advocates and the author use to help their cause.

First, it is not in the Constitution that noncitizens are denied the right to vote. There is no evidence to suggest that founders meant suffrage was only for citizens. They were more concerned about excluding individuals from democratic processes based on their race, gender and class. The majority of noncitizens make a contribution to their community in the same way that citizens: They pay taxes, (undocumented residents pay over $11 billion annually), run businesses, rent and own property and attend public schools.

Here’s what the Constitution says about who is eligible to vote in the United States: “The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.” Because the Constitution doesn’t definitively say non-citizens CAN NOT vote, proponents use that as the loophole to allow non-citizen voting.

In the beginning of 1900s, all non-citizens had lost their right to suffrage. Since then, states have not extended the right to vote to noncitizens. This has resulted in a generation American immigrants being excluded from the democratic process. They are unable to vote for their representatives and have no say over laws that affect their neighbors.

According to WikipediaSince 1900, more than seven million legal immigrants have arrived in the United States. The overwhelming majority of legal immigrants became naturalized citizens. Progressive Left tries to convince Americans that legal and illegal immigrants are the same thing. They both want a better lifestyle and contribute to the wealth and prosperity of the nation by paying taxes.

“My relationship with our democracy is complicated,” Treviño Rodriguez says. “My family has been paying taxes ever since they’ve been here, pretty much, and none of what we pay for has ever trickled down onto us. We’ve never benefited from any of the social programs that we pay into. And we’ve never been able to choose who represents us.”

Mr. Rodriguez’s assertions are patently false and misleading. Illegal aliens and their children are entitled to government benefits, such as primary and secondary education, emergency Medicaid, and school nutrition services. Aid to Families and Dependent Children is also available.

Could a country that doesn’t treat its own citizens’ right to vote as sacred treat its noncitizens’ voting rights as sacred one day? We must preserve both.

Again, Mr. Rodriguez conflates legal non-citizens with illegal non-citizens and doesn’t expect us to really notice. Anyone can naturalize citizens who are legal non-citizens and have green cards. Once they’ve completed this process they can become eligible to vote just like other Americans. For obvious reasons, illegal non-citizens cannot become naturalized citizens and therefore are ineligible to vote – and should be deported in my opinion. Only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote. PERIOD.
