Ted Cruz Takes Ownership of DHS Secretary Mayorkas After Incredibly Revealing Exchange – Opinion

Alejandro Mayorkas, DHS Secretary, appeared today on Capitol Hill to address the border crisis. Following the announcement that there were 164,000 illegal immigrant encounters in October, this testimony was necessary. This astronomical amount actually represented a decline from September. The White House’s messaging on enforcement is so bad that 29% were repeat offenders.

Mayorkas, who was testifying before the Senate began questioning him, ran into a wall. These exchanges were very entertaining, both from a political and societal perspective. But, more important, it revealed some shocking moments about how incompetent the Biden government is.

Take a minute and just think about the absurdity of Mayorka’s inability to answer basic questions. Maybe you can overlook his inability to answer basic questions like how many victims have died, or been sexually assaulted. These numbers would depend largely on reports from illegal immigrants. Unacceptable is the inability to determine how many illegal immigrants, COVID positive or criminals have been admitted into the interior. This shows that there’s a lack of proper vetting.

There is no excuse for not knowing how many illegal aliens have been tested positive following crossing the border. This information, combined with the constant fear from the federal Government regarding coronavirus, makes it impossible to know the exact number of those detained or released. Criminal history and identification should always be considered a top priority. You shouldn’tBe released. This all would seem like common sense to the layman, but that’s an elusive thing to this ridiculous failure of an administration.

Cruz then continued his questioning and hit Mayorkas about the treatment of children. This was once a very hot topic for Donald Trump, but it has now become something which should not be talked about.

It is impossible for the current administration to have both. Joe Biden and his handlers spoke out forcefully about “kids in cages” when they were targeting Trump politically. The shoe’s now on the other side, and while some aspects of child detention aren’t necessarily their fault they still bear all the responsibility. That’s the standard they put forth, and I’m of no mind to change it given the circumstances.

The border crisis is worse than it appears. DHS is being run by a buffoon who can’t manage basic aspects of his job, either because of his own incompetence or because the White House is handcuffing him. And honestly, I’m not really that concerned with the reason when the results are so damning. Mayorkas must speak out if he feels sandbagging. That he won’t do so means he gets no pass for his failures.
