Fox News reports that Michael Sussmann was found not guilty of lying to the FBI after two weeks’ worth of discussions.
Sussmann was accused of lying to FBI General Counsel James Baker when he said that he wasn’t representing any client. He had claimed to be working for Rodney Joffe, the tech executive and Clinton campaign. Sussmann was even accused of billing the Clinton campaign while he was in conversation with James Baker.
We don’t have the breakdown yet as to why they made this decision when it was clear that he was representing the Clinton campaign. Baker also testified that the part of the charge was that the matter be material. He said that, if he had known about the Clinton connections, he wouldn’t have referred it out for further investigation. That would appear to satisfy the materiality condition.

The jury included one federal government employee who told the judge they donated to Democrats in 2016 and another government employee who told the judge they “strongly” dislike former President Trump. They both told the judge that they would be impartial throughout this trial.
A teacher, an artist, and a mechanic were also part of the jury. One juror had a child who was on the same high school sports team as Sussmann’s child.
Cooper was told by the overwhelming majority of selected jurors that they’d never heard of this case before being called to jury duty.
