Stelter Ignores CNN’s Pedo Problem, Lashes Out at Fox News and Republicans

CNN got worse than all of the negative Chris Cuomo news over the past few weeks. It was even more bad over the weekend. Breaking news Neue DayJohn Griffin, the producer of Fox News was arrested on charges that he tried to get parents to permit him to engage in illegal sex. But being the good company man he was, CNN’s Brian Stelter completely ignored the network’s latest scandal and instead chose to lash out at Fox News and the political right.

According to Griffin, via the federal indictment, a “woman is a woman regardless of her age” and they needed to be “properly trained” by him in how to have sex. Stelter believed it was better to advertise. Fox News SundayChris Wallace anchor You can leave the network to go work at CNN+, the network’s streaming service.

“This is a shock to the TV news business,” Stelter declared. “Chris Wallace is one of the, you know, journalists that is at Fox who stands out like a sore thumb because The network is becoming more radicalized. both in the Trump years and now in the Biden years.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Connecticut, where the arrest was made, Issued a statementThe CNN producer paid $3,000 for a flight to take a mother with her daughter (9 years) to have sex. Stelter spoke with Jay Rosen from New York University about the need for more hateful media to cover this story.

STELTER – If you had the opportunity to ask a question about current politics and the role of journalists, what would it be? How would you want to answer the question?

ROSEN. The traditional way the media reports politics is to presume the existence two political parties who are similar, but with different ideologies. How does it work when two political parties don’t look the same anymore and one is moving in an anti-democratic way?

We won’t mince words. This is Republican Extremism,” Stelter clarified for his small audience.

A few moments later, Rosen went off about how the media needed to create “Some sort of urgency index” to measure “We are so close to the catastrophe of a crumbling democracy” was due to Republicans. “Do we make any progress toward that end? Are things improving marginally? As democratic backsliding advances, we need a way to find where we stand in the political space.,” he said.

Instead of discussing how, we will be wrapping up the program. Griffin boasts on his LinkedIn account about how he’s worked “shoulder-to-shoulder with lead anchor Chris Cuomo,” who Was firedStelter, and CNN commentator S.E. were both implicated in his sexual misconduct scandal. Cupp defended the liberal media’s aid to Jussie Smollett’s hate crime hoax.

According to Cupp, there was only “Here’s a bit of truth” to the criticism but suggested it ultimately goes “It’s too far.” And despite the fact Smollett’s story was ridiculous from the start (i.e. braving -16 degree cold for a Subway sandwich and the attackers claiming Chicago was “MAGA country”), she suggested: “To believe that this was true, you would have to suspend your disbelief.”

BRIAN STALTER: It is a surprise to the television news business. Chris Wallace is one the Fox journalists who stand out because Fox has become increasingly radicalized during Trump’s years and in Biden’s years.

JAY ROSEN – The traditional way journalists cover politics is to presume that two political parties exist, even though they are similar in ideology. How does it work when two political parties don’t look the same anymore and one is moving in an anti-democratic way?

When you have two completely different political parties, I believe that many of the assumptions and routines of political journalism simply collapse. That is to me the most important conceptual and practical issue in modern political journalism.

STELTER : But let’s not get too excited. You’re talking about Republican extremism…

ROSEN: The last thing I recommend is an “urgency index”, which means that we should know where we stand in relation to the catastrophe of a defunct democracy. Is it possible to make progress in avoiding that disaster? Are things improving marginally? As democratic backsliding advances, we need a way to find where we stand in the political space.

STELTER. So many Fox viewers believe that the Jussie-Smollett verdict was also guilty verdict for media.  (…) S.E., the narrative – pretty clear here. Media is complicit in the propagation of hate crimes and media are guilty too. What is the truth?

S.E. CUPP: There’s some truth to it. Fox and Laura, like usual, go too far. But listen, t I think, when this story broke – you have to remember in context – hate crimes were on the rise.

And I think what a lot of journalists did was – they wanted to be activists on this story. You know what? They went a bit too far. They stopped calling the crime “alleged” pretty quickly. It’s not like we were asking enough questions in the beginning.

You also need to keep in mind that researchers have found less than one per cent of hate crime cases are faked. To believe that the story was false, one would have to suspend all belief. It became obvious, however, that the story was not true, and more information came to light.

But I do think journalists are at risk of telling an incorrect story if they want to be active.

STELTER: Right. Skepticism is something we have to continue applying.
