Friday’s broadcast network morning shows were in a jovial mood as they celebrated a “big win” “milestone” for America as President Biden and congressional Democrats are set to vote on their “historic” and “massive economic plan” They claim that they will reduce inflation, save the earth, lower prescription prices, increase taxes, and help to raise taxes.
The shocking thing is that they didn’t even mention their opposition to it. Instead, they spent three sentences insisting Republicans were against the bill (with no CBS research or CBS commentary). Taxes would be increasedThe middle class as well as the poor You will be financially successfulThe rich and the types who thought Solyndra could change the world.
CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson was jazzed in the show’s Eye Opener: “Breaking overnight, a milestone for Democrats on Capitol Hill on a massive bill addressing climate change and inflation.”
Congressional correspondent and January 6 Committee lackey Scott MacFarlane was more than happy to share the details about the goodies for groups such electric car owners (so, predominantly the rich) (click “expand”):
She was concerned about the tax provisions. Her colleagues seem to have listened now, and they appear to have preserved tax breaks for manager of investment funds. What is the Inflation Reduction Act, as it’s called by Democrats? There are two new taxes that will generate billions to reduce the nation’s debt and to expand the subsidy to cover the Affordable Care Act. Democrats also call this the biggest climate change legislation U.S. history. It’ll pay for tax breaks for people who buy energy-efficient appliances or fuel-efficient cars, as well as financial incentives for businesses that conserve energy.
This bill is an important victory for both the Biden administration as well as congressional Democrats, who have less than 100 days until the midterm elections. They need something to demonstrate voters. The voting begins tomorrow afternoon. This could go on through the week.

ABC’s Good Morning America (GMAAlso onboard was a (also known as ) George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton official and co-host of the show, boasted that “Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced her support for the Democrats’ climate and tax bill securing a big win for President Biden and his agenda.”
Marcy Bruce, White House senior correspondent, highlighted how “this is a big deal” for Team Biden “to pass their historic climate, tax, and health care package” that would include “the largest investment in fighting climate change in U.S. history.”
“It is expected to help lower health care premiums and prescription drug costs and would increase, of course, taxes on big corporations and the wealthiest Americans. According to the President, this would bring down inflation and make you more money. Republicans, though, and even some experts dispute that,” Elle also stated that she played the White House press secretary role.
NBC’s TodayThey gave their approval to what Hoda Kotb, co-host of the show, called a “great program.” “massive economic plan…aimed at reducing inflation.”
Chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander called Sinema’s holdout “one of the biggest cliffhangers of the summer” in politics, so her support was “a big deal” to “help bring down inflation.”
To his credit, he noted Democrats “still facing plenty of political headwinds” (click “expand”):
ALEXANDER: [I]t would still include the largest climate investment in the country’s history, would lower the price for some prescription drugs, and it’s expected to reduce the deficit. It will also, according to many economists and Democrats, lower inflation. Hoda, however, disputes that assertion. They stand united against it.
KOTB. Let’s talk about the timeline, Peter. How soon will this bill be passed if Democrats have the necessary votes?
ALEXANDER: Yeah, it’s a good question. Chuck Schumer is the top Senate Democratic. Chuck Schumer, the top Senate Democratic is said that he will move ahead with the bill tomorrow. This bill should be passed by next week, he said. Simply speaking for Democrats, I believe this would be another significant legislative win heading into the fall midterms. It is important to clarify that they still have many political obstacles. Historic inflation, high gas prices, even though those are starting to come down — of course, the President’s bad poll numbers, but it really would give Democrats something to run on with a series of popular policies.
When the Republicans’ tax cuts legislation was passed in 2017, the contrast was clear on the networks. Before the votes on the bill were held, it was approved by congress on December 19, 2017. GMA Today Slammed it as filled with “major political risks” that’d put the party in “dangerous…territory” with voters.
The passage of the bill was met with similar disinterest. On NBC’s Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie Berated then-House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), asking if he was “living in a fantasy world” for believing the package would lead to economic growth and not view it as a handout for the ultra-rich.
One day later, he Was interrogated CBS This Morning GMA The shows suggest that the show was not in step with American society. Of course, notice how there wasn’t anything in Friday’s stories about whether this liberal wish list was something the American people wanted.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS : The latest news is coming from Capitol Hill. Arizona Senator Kyrsten Snema declared her support for Democrats’ Climate and Tax Bill, securing an important win for President Biden. Mary Bruce is a senior White House correspondent. Mary, good morning.
MARY BRUCE After a long period of uncertainty, this is a huge deal for the White House. Democrat appear to now have the votes needed to pass historic tax, climate and healthcare packages. Arizona Seminor [sic] — Arizona Democrat Kyrsten Sinema had kept Washington guessing really for many days but overnight she announced she is ready to move forward after leaders agreed to scale back some of their tax proposals, dropping a $14 billion tax increase on some wealthy hedge fund managers and tweaking a new minimum tax on corporations that could help some manufacturers. In addition, she was able to obtain additional funding for drought relief in her state. The Senate will be present over the weekend in order to vote on the matter. The final version could come out as soon as next week. While the President will sign this quickly, a reminder of the larger picture is provided here. It would represent the biggest investment made in combating climate change in American history. This investment is expected to lower prescription drug prices and health insurance premiums. It would also increase taxes for big businesses and wealthy Americans. This will lower inflation and help you save money, the President promises. But, that is not the case for Republicans. Experts and others disagree. Michael.
MICHAEL STRAHAN : Mary, it’s all right.

Senate Democrats have finally reached an agreement with the President to approve a huge spending package to combat inflation and climate change after months of negotiation. Scott MacFarlane is live on Capitol Hill today to give you more information about the bill. Scott, Kyrsten sinema was there for Democrats last night. What are you thinking?
SCOTT MACFARLANE : This weekend could start, David. Good morning. The team will vote throughout the weekend in order to complete this agreement. Democrats will need to get all 50 members of the party onboard, as there are no Republicans. With Kyrsten Silena, Arizona, announcing her support for Democrats, their 50th vote is now possible. Sinema did not sign the agreement. Sinema was concerned about the tax provisions. Her colleagues seem to have listened now and are preserving tax incentives for managers of investment funds. [ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Breaking Overnight; Sinema Signs Off on Democrats’ Big Bill]
HODA KOTB: Well, let’s move now to an overnight breakthrough on Capitol Hill. Now, the Senate appears poised to pass a bill that aims at decreasing inflation after Democrats reached an agreement with Kyrsten Silena (an Arizona senator who was a holdout). NBC’s chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander joins us with more. Good morning, Peter.
PETER ALEXANDER – Hey Hoda. Good morning. Good to have you here. It was the most significant cliffhanger of the summer, politically speaking. Kyrsten Sinema announcing late yesterday she will support moving forward with her party’s climate, tax, and health care package. This announcement followed days of lobbying and pressure from other Democrats. It is an important deal. It clears the way for a shrunken down version of President Biden’s domestic priorities to get through what is a 50/50 Senate. Remember, just last month, it seemed like the President’s agenda was dead. Well, Sinema — she negotiated some changes to the deal, but it would still include the largest climate investment in the country’s history, would lower the price for some prescription drugs, and it’s expected to reduce the deficit. It will also, according to many economists and Democrats, lower inflation. Hoda, however, disputes that assertion. They stand united against it.
KOTB: Let’s talk about the timeline, Peter. What time will it take for this bill to be approved if Democrats already have all of the votes needed?
ALEXANDER: Yeah, it’s a good question. Chuck Schumer is the top Senate Democratic. Chuck Schumer, the top Senate Democratic is said that he will move ahead with the bill tomorrow. This bill should be passed by next week, he said. Simply speaking for Democrats, I believe this would be another significant legislative victory heading into the fall midterms. It is important to clarify that they still have many political obstacles. Historic inflation, high gas prices, even though those are starting to come down — of course, the President’s bad poll numbers, but it really would give Democrats something to run on with a series of popular policies. Hoda?
KOTB: Peter Alexander, please join us at the White House. Peter, thanks.
