As we reported on Friday evening, the White House hinted in the press briefing that they were “weighing” a plan to evacuate Americans working at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, as Russian troops converge on the border.
Bloomberg also reported this:
Family members will be required to go home after the decision is made, and non-essential workers can leave at any time. People who did not want to be named said that an announcement might come in a matter of days. [….]
According to the U.S. Embassy website, there are approximately 180 American citizens employed at their embassy in Kyiv and 560 Ukrainians. That doesn’t include family members, so the number of U.S. citizens living in embassy housing is probably much higher.
Now Fox News is reporting that it’s happening “as soon as Monday”:
