There’s some interesting news on the Joe Rogan front, following weeks of manufactured outrage about the podcast host supposedly spreading COVID-19 “misinformation.”
The saga began after Rogan hosted Peter McCullough and Robert Malone, two medical experts who didn’t parrot the CDC’s talking points on the coronavirus. Shortly after, “270 doctors” signed a petition demanding Spotify take action. After Neil Young made it clear that he was the one to choose, things escalated. Young requested that Young be removed from the platform.
Rogan responded to the attempts to destroy him with a video in which he explained his position. He also seemed to offer an olive branch for those trying to remove Rogan. However, that did not stop his attempts to kill him. Spotify placed an advisory on some episodes.
Now, according to a breaking report from The Daily Wire, Spotify has deleted approximately 70 episodes of Rogan’s show.
Spotify appears have removed approximately 70 episodes of Joe Rogan’s “The Joe Rogan Experience” as the company faces continued left-wing pressure to boot Rogan, their top performer, from the platform.
“The apparent removal of the episodes, all of which were recorded years before the pandemic began, was spotted by JREMissing,” CNET reported. “The fan-made website uses Spotify’s API to compare available episodes to a database of all episodes recorded.”
Gizmodo ran a manual check and found that JREMissing’s reporting was correct: the episodes had been removed.
We have to ask why. All of the episodes removed were prior to the pandemic, so one would assume the removal doesn’t have anything to do with the current firestorm. Still, it’s very odd that this is happening now. Is Spotify going through Rogan’s entire catalog and removing episodes it has deemed to violate some policy? Is this simply a random coincidence? What other reason could there possibly be for deleting so many episodes, if any?
Spotify must immediately provide an explanation for the situation regardless of the cause. If left to imagination, this is the type of thing that can fester. RedState will keep this story updated as more information becomes available.
