Multiple people were shot Sunday after a gunman opened fire at a church in Laguna Woods, California, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Five people were also injured and one victim was killed in the assault. On the spot, law enforcement arrested the suspect shooter.
The Sheriff’s office reported on Twitter that each of the victims was being transported to the hospital, one of whom had minor injuries:
Dispatch was notified by the police of a shooting in Geneva Presbyterian Church at 1.26pm. The shooting left four victims critically hurt and one victim with minor injuries. All the victims are aged adults who are on their way towards the hospital. The victim who died on the spot is one.

The agency also noted the “suspect was detained at the scene.”

However, the motive of the attack has yet to be identified. Police officers recovered the gun used for the shooting. The scene was also attended by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Laguna Woods, located about 50 minutes southeast of Los Angeles in Orange County is known as Laguna Woods. On Sunday, law enforcement will hold a press conference.
