The number of people shot at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Vestavia Hills and their conditions were not disclosed.
Police said that the suspect was taken into custody after the shooting at 6:20 pm.

Gray News and Fox affiliate WBRC reported more information on the shooting including a possible event at the church on Thursday night.
The scene was rushed to emergency services by police at 6:15 p.m.
A post on the church’s website announced there was a potluck dinner scheduled for Thursday evening.
