Special-Ed Teacher Accused of Having Sex With Boy After Plying Him With Weed and Gummy Bears

A former special education teacher gave a 14-year-old boy cannabis-laced gummy bears before having sex with him, according to Chicago prosecutors.

Sara Damyan, 33, has been charged with criminal sexual assault of the victim, who at the time was a student at the school where she worked, ABC affiliate WLS reported.

She made a court appearance on Tuesday.

The Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office says Damyan told the Alessandro Volta Elementary School student she liked him and suggested they “go out.”

The alleged sexual encounters took place last year between the months of January and March.

The victim reportedly expressed concern about their age difference.

Prosecutors said that in one incident, Damyan invited the boy to her home and gave him the cannabis gummy bears, as well as vitamin tea that contained marijuana.

Damyan told a friend that the student was her “boyfriend.”

The friend reported Damyan to Alessandro Volta, leading to an investigation into her conduct.

The school fired Damyan after learning of her relationship with the boy, and she was arrested on Monday.

Some parents told WLS they are upset the school district failed to inform them about the incidents.

“CPS has a lack of regard for its students, so it just makes it really difficult,” said parent Jasmine Bates. “You are entrusting teachers and staff members to take care of your kids they are not using the best ability possible.”
