Ah, there’s more fearmongering by lefties about Roe V. Wade’s imminent end. Jessica Corbett sure knows how to whip panic into liberals in her June 17 Salon piece.
According to a NPR interview Lisa Wayne (executive director of National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers) about the recent draft leak, there has been a quick reaction by the pro-abortion crowd. Clinics are allegedly expecting an inflow of pregnant women seeking to kill their baby soon.
The fear Wayne has is that criminalization of abortion will open “the floodgates to overcriminalization and mass incarceration,” and that “We’re not talking about just fines like a traffic ticket. These are serious implications for this country.
Yes, we’re not talking about a simple doctor’s visit, we’re talking about murdering children via abortion. Criminal acts are punishable according to their severity. Child murder is severe, and one shouldn’t be surprised that might come with “serious consequences.”
Not surprising that, while the NADCL doesn’t “take a political position on abortion,” the organization certainly loves to echo pro-abort nostrums. In its August 2021 report it states that that “proposed anti-abortion legislation disproportionately impacts poor women, Black women, and other women of color, highlighting the deeply sexist, racist, and classist nature of the recent and proposed new anti-abortion laws, and the manner in which such laws will contribute to the problem of systemic racism and classism within the criminal legal system.”
Political neutrality is a farce. This leftist victim mentality is a perfect example of what they are doing.
Salon goes down the whole slew of liberal fever dreams, quoting Demoractic Rep. Pramila Jayapal saying, “this is absolutely terrifying — and further underscores that efforts to ban abortion are solely about controlling our bodies.” Rep. Bonnie Watson also said “abortion isn’t just a reproductive health issue —i t’s a civil rights issue and a racial justice issue.”
Salon will inform you that Roe could be overturned. People will end up in prison, the tide of racism will increase, and civil rights may cease to exist. It’s all absurd and sophistry. If a state wishes, they can prosecute the murder of a child as murder.
It’s not that deep.
