Reflections on the Two-Year Anniversary of That Infamous Kamala Harris Tweet – Opinion

For all the blathering from the mainstream media and Democrats since the Capitol riot about how public figures should watch what they say because it could incite violence, that standard has rarely if ever been applied to Democrats – some of whose words and actions some have suggested led to the very type of mayhem and brutality they claim to want to avoid happening.

That double standard has perhaps never been more glaring than it was for then-Sen. Kamala Harris, who as many will remember posted this infamous tweet two years ago today in support of the “Minnesota Freedom Fund,” which was set up by professional agitators on the left to get those who looted small and big businesses alike and who torched entire city blocks in Minneapolis without regard to any of the city’s residents out of jail:

Harris tweeted that the Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led riots in Democrat-run cities were erupting in the wake of the death in police custody in Minneapolis of George Floyd. Around that same time, frustrated residents of Minneapolis – including senior citizens – were seen in interviews on TV crying and cursing about what the rioters in their city had done – including destroy a Target and making public transportation more difficult for people who relied on it to get to work, etc., making the point that what they did helped absolutely no one.

As I’ve said before in response to people who say “but Harris couldn’t have known the violent consequences of helping raise millions for the fund,” Harris being a former federal prosecutor had to know what she was doing when she urged people to support the rioter bail fund. It is standard operating procedure for the social justice warriors behind these types of funds to set the money aside to bail out some of the worst offenders who are arrested during so-called “peaceful protests.” These same offenders invariably turn right around and commit more wrongdoing, with some of it being even worse than what they were originally arrested for.

Unfortunately, it is the exact opposite in the Minnesota bail funds case. The fund also bailed out two convicted sex offenders, one woman accused with second-degree killing, and two other men, who then went on to commit separate attacks on senior citizens.

Back in May, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) tacked a poster-sized version of Harris’ tweet onto her bulletin board as a reminder of the hypocrisy at play for Democrats when it comes to allegations of “incitement” and calls for “swift justice” for the alleged Capitol rioters:

To repeat a point I’ve made before, Greene’s tweet was a timely reminder that unlike the false allegations of “inciting” the Capitol riot that were made against her and others, the people who pretend to be the most outraged about what happened on Jan. 6th, 2021 are actually guilty in the minds of many of much worse.

Unfortunately, this is an issue that hasn’t changed in the face of double standards from Democrat/media/Big Tech and will likely continue to be so. The good news is that there are plenty of conservatives around who won’t hesitate to remind people of it.
