Rand Paul Takes Fauci to the Cleaners and Hangs Him out to Dry – Opinion

Today, Dr. Anthony Fauci visited Sunday’s shows to discuss the COVID variant. He also threw more fears about its potential consequences. Fauci — who apparently thinks he’s a dictator — told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that while they didn’t know what the new variant yet, he wasn’t ruling out that there might be more lockdowns in the future.

“Prepare for the worst,” he said. “But you want to be prepared to do anything and everything.”

As if they hadn’t already done so “anything and everything” to us already. Here we go again. While he said he had spoken to the South Africans about the new variant, he said we don’t know what the severity was yet. He didn’t mention that they had said that the cases they had found so far were “extremely mild.” Funny how he left that part out.

But Fauci dropped the mask a bit on “Face the Nation,” when he revealed what a partisan he was, as we noted earlier.

CBS News

MARGARET BRENNAN – Senator Cruz said to the attorney general that you should face prosecution.

DR. FAUCI: Yeah. It’s funny. You should prosecute me? Was it Jan. 6th, senator?

MARGARET BRENNAN: Do you think that this is about making you a scapegoat to deflect–

DR. FAUCI: Of course!

MARGARET BRENNAN: –From President Trump?

DR. FAUCI: That one is impossible to solve if you’re asleep.

MARGARET BreNNAN: This is a serious issue that many Republican senators are taking aim at. I mean–

DR. FAUCI: That’s OK, I’m just going to do my job and I’m going to be saving lives and they’re going to be lying.

Fauci went on to claim that they were “really criticizing science because I represent science.” He claimed they were doing something “dangerous” because it might “damage science.”

“And if you’re attacking me, you’re really attacking science. I mean, everybody knows that,” Fauci claimed.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) just skewered Fauci for his “hubris.”

“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science,” Paul wrote, as he scoffed at Fauci. “It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.”

What about Fauci’s enormous ego? What self-importance to claim he is “science” and that daring to question him — or call him out when he lies — is somehow damaging science. This is a clear indication of how ignorant he really is. Questioning is at the core of science. Shutting down that questioning and demanding adherence to the government dictate, as Fauci has done, isn’t “science” — that’s authoritarian.

But Paul and Cruz aren’t ‘questioning science’ when they say Fauci should be prosecuted: they’re referencing him lying to Congress over gain-of-function research. Of course, Fauci doesn’t explain that to host Margaret Brennan or the viewers. He wants viewers to think that the senators are just making claims against him because they disagree with him, and he’s the ‘scientist,’ so what he has to say is inviolate.

Talk about deflection. Fauci will deflect from such things.

Fauci trying to say that Cruz had any connection to Jan. 6, is just plain flimsy. There’s no evidence of that at all. Fauci lies to Congress, however. Fauci’s attempt to retaliate against Cruz with a political attack shows that he isn’t pretending not to be a hack.
