In a long-form interview with Candace Owens on the Daily Wire’s premium podcast service, President Trump came out strongly in favor of all Americans getting some variety of the vaccine as well as the booster.

“I came up with a vaccine, with three vaccines,” Trump told Owens. “All are very, very good. Three of them were created in nine months. It was supposed to take five to 12 years.”

Owens also said that Trump would die more from the disease in 2021 than 2020, despite the fact that the vaccine was being given to everyone. This is a jab at President Biden.“Yet more people have died under COVID this year,” Owens told Trump. “By the way, under Joe Biden, than under you and more people took the vaccine this year. So people are questioning how—”
“Oh no, the vaccines work, but some people aren’t the ones. The ones who get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you’re protected,” Trump told Owens.
“Look, the results of the vaccine are very good, and if you do get it, it’s a very minor form,” Trump continued. “People aren’t dying when they take the vaccine.”
The origin of vaccine development is irrelevant to my critique. I believe that these vaccines can not protect against disease like the other types of vaccines. The current vaccines and boosters do not seem to be effective against emerging strains. Because people who have the vaccine may spread it, you must question the utility of mass vaccinations in any other venue than for vulnerable populations, such as nursing homes. People who decline to receive the vaccine are bullied and stigmatized.
There is however something very strange going on. Trump visited Dallas on Sunday. Trump spoke out in support of the vaccine at Dallas and encouraged his supporters to give credit. Similar to Candace Owens’s defense, he made the same remarks. The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed gratitude to Biden on Fox News for seeing it and acknowledging what was obvious.
I’m very appreciative of that — I was surprised to hear it. It was an amazing thing and it made a lot people very happy.
He did something that I believe was very important. This country needs to heal, that’s for sure.
When we came up with these incredible vaccines — three of them — and therapeutics, we did a tremendous job, and we should never disparage them. We should be really happy about it because we’ve all saved millions and millions of lives all over the world.
The “process of healing” is moved forward by Biden giving President Trump credit for something? I’m not really sure how that works.
We then have Candace Owens’ interview.
Call me cynical, but I think the White House is using President Trump’s ego and wounded pride to play him. They didn’t praise him over the vaccine out of the blue. Some kind of plan is involved. Trump seeks public credit in order to quickly develop the vaccine. This is understandable. It is understandable that President Trump doesn’t consider the fact his supporters have left the vaccine. Most of us don’t want credit for the vaccine. A goodly number of us see the vaccine as the gateway drug to a permanent erosion of civil liberties in the name of “public health.” The quickest way for the Democrats to throw the GOP into disarray in an election year is by neutering the GOP’s most effective campaigner and the head of the party-in-exile. Trump should acknowledge that the vaccine exists, but insist upon the need to address the issues of safety and mandate.
The bottom line is that if President Trump is interested in having an impact in 2022 and mounting a presidential run in 2024, he needs to remember who he is dealing with and who “brung” him to the dance.
