PolitiFact POUNCES on N.C. Republican for Cheeseburger Tweet Mocking DC’s ID Hypocrisy

Liberal websites that “fact-check” the District of Columbia are beginning to hate the idea of Mayor Muriel bowser asking for IDs at restaurants, and many other public institutions, but not at polls. PolitiFact is now the official fact-checking website of USA Today.

Rep. Greg Murphy (R-N.C.) drew a “Mostly False” rating for tweeting “Dems want a photo ID for cheeseburgers, but not to vote. This is the height of hypocrisy.” You are not lying.

Paul Specht, PolitiFact journalist began with this statement: “To quote a North Carolina congressman it is true that Democrats go to great measures to safeguard their grilled beefs.” Har har.

Then he bizarrely wrote “We can’t fact check whether Democrats are hypocrites.” You can actually combine facts and discover hypocrisy. Take a look at how enthusiastically PolitiFact interprets “get a cheeseburger”. Extra-literally!

Murphy’s tweet gives the impression that anyone ordering a cheeseburger will need to show a photo ID. That’s not the case.

Only those who wish to enter a restaurant for a short time are eligible to show their photo ID and to get vaccinated. It is possible to order a cheeseburger from the restaurant and have it shipped. You can also order a cheeseburger to be delivered to your home or pick it up at the drive-thru. The restrictions don’t apply to grocery stores. The restrictions do not apply to grocery stores. Residents can also purchase the ingredients needed for a cheeseburger at their local supermarket and cook them at home.

Murphy’s tweet also leaves out the fact that the congressman’s workplace isn’t bound by the Washington mayor’s order. Eateries in the Capitol complex are continuing to serve patrons without requiring them to produce proof of vaccination, Roll Call reported last week. In fact, the Rayburn House Office Building is home to a Steak n’ Shake, which sells something called a “steakburger with cheese.”

Murphy was elected in September 2019, and currently has four PolitiFact reports. Mayor Bowser is in office from January 2015. He has what number of PolitiFact check? Zero, zip, none. Because she is a Democrat.

CNN’s Daniel Dale was the first to notice this trend back on January 16, 2009.False claims DC needs photo ID and proof of vaccination in order to buy milk, or to leave the home.” For tweets that highlighted the double standard, he was targeting Marsha Blackburn and Senator Ron Johnson. Dale pointed out that Mayor Bowser was unclear about the requirements “before you go out.”
