Politico Founding Editor Suggests Biden Should Trash-Talk His Way to Popularity

Right now Joe Biden and his administration are deeply unpopular . How can we reverse this? It is time to enforce immigration laws across the border. To rein in inflation, cut spending. To lower gasoline prices, open the Keystone Pipeline and promote drilling. Naw! It’s TRASH TALK that is the secret to success!

Is that who suggested it? It was a local tough from the street. Nope. It was none other than the founding editor of Politico, John F. Harris, who on Thursday revealed “How Trash Talk Can Save Biden’s Presidency.”

Harris’ trash talk revelation came to him as a result of Biden calling Fox News reporter Peter Doocy an SOB a few days ago.

“What a stupid son of a bitch,” the president muttered, as though to himself, even as a hot mic assured that this sulfurous thought bubble did not stay with himself.

Biden later called the Fox correspondent for a conversation to “clear the air,” as Doocy described it. Doocy stated that Biden had succeeded in doing exactly what he was insulting.

The air between the reporter and the president, of course, is not the most important air that needs clearing from Biden’s perspective. The gap is between the great hopes Democrats held for him as a president a year back and the reality of a stalled program, divided party and the haunting feeling that he might not be up for the challenge of turning it all around by 2022 and 2024.

As it happens, Biden’s lapse of presidential decorum hints at a path toward restoring presidential vitality.

Is Biden really just one step away from being a “dirtbag” and “stupid fool”? Harris felt the exchange was quite winning. This was also an opportunity to remind Harris of the many Biden memorable moments that feature spontaneous profanity and genuine emotion in the midst of modern politics’ phoniness.

Harris then wooed over Biden’s most memorable trash talk hits from the past.

There was the famous time when he whispered to President Barack Obama at a White House podium that the passage of health care reform was “a big fucking deal.” Or when he told an Iowa voter who pressed him on his ethical and physical fitness for the presidency that, “You’re a damn liar, man,” before challenging him to a pushup contest. Perhaps Biden’s most memorable moment during the fall 2020 presidential debates was when he responded to former President Donald Trump’s incessant interruptions by rasping, “Will you shut up, man?”

Remind yourself as you read that the author was the founding editor at Politico, not an eighth grader trashing in school’s cafeteria. This is especially important when Harris fantasies about Biden trash talking at the State Of The Union Address.

…Let’s see if polls show that others enjoyed the Doocy exchange as much as I did. If so, perhaps it’s time for Biden to cancel the tired tradition of recognizing American heroes at the State of the Union in favor of a new approach: I’d like to recognize in the audience tonight Al Miller, an inventory manager from Zanesville, Ohio. He’s basically a decent guy, but when he’s blathering about politics even his friends think he’s full of shit. C’mon, give me a break, man, and put a sock in it.

It is actually a good idea to take a moment and remind yourself that the Politico founder editor wrote this ridiculous trash talk advice. You should also put some socks in there, buddy!
