Pelosi Gets Mocked Into Next Week for Ridiculous Comments About China and Ben Franklin – Opinion

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ended up going to Taiwan despite China’s threats and the failure of the Biden team to stand up against those threats. She didn’t stay long, just enough to make some remarks. She then left for Japan, her next stop on her Asian tour.

But Pelosi had a couple of moments on the trip where she seemed to be trying to compete with Joe Biden or Kamala Harris for the incoherency/ridiculous comment prize.

While she was in Taiwan, she made this comment referring to “Benjamin Franklin, our presidency.”

Um, Nancy? Franklin was an important Founding Father of the country, but he wasn’t a president. That’s sort of basic elementary school knowledge.

Moreover, I’m not sure what Pelosi was trying to quote here. She says, “[F]There is freedom and democracy. Security here, there is reedom. If we don’t have – we can’t have either, if we don’t have both.”

I think it might have been the famous “freedom and security” quote, but that doesn’t include democracy, so I’m not sure what she was trying to say. The quote is, “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Plus, as Franklin noted, we are a “Republic,” if we “can keep it.”

Those weren’t the only comments that raised eyebrows from Pelosi.

When she was in Tokyo, she was also talking about our relationship with China — an obvious topic of discussion given the overhanging drama from them. Pelosi said some good things like China wouldn’t stop us from visiting Taiwan and we will stand by them. “This isn’t about me, this is about them,” she said, which I found to be a positive thing. She then made an absurd comment on the slide.

“When I was a little girl, I was told at the beach if I dug a hole deep enough, we would reach China, so we’ve always felt a connection there,” Pelosi said.

Oh, my. This is being mocked all over the Internet. This is how to appear juvenile to the rest. Outkick’s Clay Travis said, “We are truly led by imbeciles.”

Pelosi continued to make more doubtful comments regarding China.

Yes, genocide, Communism, and killing millions of people is a bit of a “contradiction.” But hey, we have to work with them on the “climate crisis” and “we can learn a lot from China in that regard.” What is she smoking? China is the worst polluter in the world, and they don’t give a darn about what we say on the matter if she’s deluded enough to think they do. But saying we can learn from genocidal Communists is not the best look here, particularly when they’re threatening to shoot you out of the sky.
