Paul Pelosi to be Arraigned for DUI on Wednesday – Opinion

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), will be arraigned on Wednesday for allegedly “driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury” and “driving with .08% blood alcohol level or higher causing Injury” on May 28, a press release said Monday.

According to Napa County District Attorney Press Release, Pelosi does not have to be present in court. However, he can have his lawyers enter the plea on his behalf.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Paul Pelosi is scheduled to be arraigned in Napa County Superior Court on charges filed by the Napa County District Attorney’s Office based upon an automobile collision and driving under the influence arrest on May 28th, 2022. These include driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and driving with.08% or more blood alcohol levels causing injury. At 8:30 AM, the matter is to be heard by Department 3. A DUI misdemeanor defendant may appear by their lawyer. He or she does not need to present themselves in courtroom, except when ordered by a judge. It is not yet known if Mr. Pelosi will be required to make an appearance at the arraignment. However, he could choose to do so through his attorney.

He is currently facing misdemeanor criminal charges. His presence at court is therefore not required. As RedState’s Nick Arama reported, he was arrested that night and released on $5000 bail the next morning.

CNN reported that Pelosi received national attention following the accident where a Jeep 2014 collided with a Porsche 2021 while driving night.

Nancy Pelosi was also in the news today, landing safely in Taiwan despite Chinese threats.
