Bob Chapek (Disney CEO) is an extremely sorry Disney employee. The business leader of the House of Mouse didn’t fight hard enough for little kids to receive twisted LGBTQ propaganda in Florida public schools and is now facing the wrath of the woke mob.
That guy is a pain. But it’s hard for us to feel bad for him now that he regrets not defeating Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education Act,” a bill intent on protecting Kindergarteners through third graders from lessons on “sexual orientation or gender identity.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chapek is apologizing profusely for not being a “stronger ally in the fight for equal rights” for LGBTQ people. Chapek is angry at the less active stance his company took against the bill in the first news cycle.
Chapek had initially made the call the company would not release a statement condemning the bill – which the left has dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” – and on Monday March 7 explained that they decided to refrain in order to keep the political temperature down.
“As we have seen time and again, corporate statements do very little to change outcomes or minds,” Chapek said. “Instead, they are often weaponized by one side or the other to further divide and inflame.”
That was certainly refreshing. Disney is known to rail against controversial conservative laws whenever they are passed. Disney condemned Georgia’s pro-life “Heartbeat Bill” in 2019 and threatened to pull its production studios out of the state over it. Chapek’s call for restraint was almost miraculous.
However as the week went on, more lefties cried out to heaven that there wasn’t enough being done to stop the Florida Bill. Chapek was nervous to hear that Ron DeSantis (R, Florida Governor) would sign it into state law if the legislation passed in Florida.
During an annual Disney shareholder’s meeting, Chapek admitted that the company’s initial hands-off approach to the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” was “unsuccessful” and that he had arranged a last ditch meeting with DeSantis to discuss the bill.
Chapek told shareholders that DeSantis “agreed to meet with me and LGBTQ+ members of our senior team in Florida to discuss” their concerns.
Chapek, however, has now admitted defeat to the bill. In a memo sent out to Disney employees, Chapek apologized for failing to be “stronger” against the bill.
“Speaking to you, reading your messages, and meeting with you have helped me better understand how painful our silence was,” he said. “You needed me to be a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights and I let you down. I am sorry.”
Aww, poor guy. The CEO said that he was going to end all Disney contributions to Sunshine State politicians to make amends for the mistake.
“And today, we are pausing all political donations in the state of Florida pending this review,” Chapek added.
It’s not fair to take money from someone who wants to spread gender confusion among children. Good riddance.
