Any foreign observers have been barred from the Beijing organizing committee of 2022 Winter Olympics. Now, the committee has announced that only “selected groups” within China will be given tickets to attend one of the greatest athletic spectacles in the world.
The organizing committee said they have changed their minds in the name of “safety” (which these days is a synonym for “control”):
The statement stated that tickets were not being offered to general public because of the complicated and difficult work involved in controlling the epidemic and the need to ensure the safety and health of all those who are affected by the Games.
While this might sound nice, here’s what this statement really means: “We will continue to segregate people into classes based on superficial characteristics and show favoritism towards certain groups but disdain for others. But do not worry, it’s for the public safety and your own good!”

All athletes participating in the Olympics are under intense scrutiny, especially Americans. Numerous countries suggest that athletes may have brought burner phones to block surveillance by Chinese authorities.
This craziness must stop. But it won’t stop until the people demand better from their governments and top organisations. There was a time when it appeared that the United States might take an aggressive stand against this dictatorial government. However, this illusion was fleeting. At first, President Biden stated that he would be boycotting the Olympics. But he changed his mind when pressure mounted.
We must stop countries and governments from using COVID to continue to take power away from people. If this happens, we can expect to see more division, fear-mongering and inappropriate control.
