Olivia Newton John Dead at 73 – Opinion

According to her Facebook post, Dame Olivia Newton John died Monday at her Southern California residence at the age of 73.

People reported that she had stage four breast cancer as of October 2021. Newton-John was most widely known for her role of “Sandy” in Grease, where she starred alongside John Travolta. The actress also starred in “Xanadu” and “Two of a Kind.” Outside of movies, she had a successful music career in her own right, especially with her 1981 hit “Physical.”

Olivia Newton John (73) died peacefully this morning in Southern California at Ranch. She was surrounded by her family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.

Olivia, a woman who has shared her battle with breast cancer for more than 30 years, is a beacon of hope and triumph. With the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund dedicated to cancer research and medicine, Olivia continues to be a source of healing inspiration. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund (ONJFoundationFund.org).

Olivia’s husband John Easterling and daughter Chloe Lattanzi are her survivors; brother Toby Newton John; sister Sarah Newton John; nieces Tottie, Fiona, Brett Goldsmith; Emerson and Charlie Goldsmith; Pierz Newton John; Jude Newton Stock, Layla Lee; Kira, Tasha Edelstein; Brin and Valerie Hall.

In 2019, she was part of the Queen’s New Year honours list, in which she became a dame.
