NSBA President Gets Named to Position on Biden Administration Board – Opinion

We’ve been writing about how the National School Boards Association (NSBA) wrote a letter to Joe Biden calling on him to have the DOJ investigate parents as potential domestic terrorists, even throwing around the Patriot Act in the letter. Attorney General Merrick Garland then issued a memo ordering the FBI to form a task force to look into the ‘threats’ and coordinate with the school boards.

We reported that emails revealed that the NSBA coordinated with the White House for several weeks prior to the release of the letter. According to the White House, they were requested to identify incidents of violence. The White House acted in coercion with them and got Garland to enter the federal government’s investigation into the parents. Let’s not forget how awkward this was.

Spam was spit on and parents became upset about being called domestic terrorists, and then the FBI/federal governments attempted to use them against them. Local state school board associations said we didn’t sign aboard this letter and pulled out of the NSBA.

The NSBA retracted the original letter and sent a second letter apologizing for their mistakes to its members. They didn’t actually apologize to the parents, however, and so far Garland hasn’t pulled back his decision to have the coordinated investigation.

Here’s your “funny coincidences of the day” story.

Now, I’m sure that this has no deeper meaning, just one of those weird timing things, not indicative of any greater problem.

Viola Garcia, one of two individuals behind the letter was among the people who were given a position by the Biden Administration.

Just days after the release of the letter, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona made her announcement as a member to the National Assessment Governing Board. On Oct. 1, she began her new position.

Garcia’s appointment to the board, which oversees the National Assessment of Educational Progress, commonly referred to as the Nation’s Report Card, came two days after the association’s letter was sent to the DOJ on Sept. 29 and generated nationwide controversy and just before Attorney General Merrick Garland set up the task force on Oct. 4.

The governing board comprises 26 bipartisan members and is tasked with establishing the nation’s report card criteria, including selecting the assessed subjects and assessment content, as well as setting achievement levels for student performance.

It seems to me that Congress should talk to Garland, but also to Garcia and to the CEO of NSBA in order to get more information about their interactions with White House.
