Novak Djokovic, a tennis star from Serbia has been vaccinated but it is now that things are improving for him.
Djokovic refused to bow to pressure from political parties on the issue, despite being faced with enormous resistance by tennis players and governments. He was deported from Australia and denied a chance to defend his Australian Open title as a result, and he could not participate in two recent tournaments in the United States. But it seems that the advantage is turning into Djokovic’s court once again.
French officials have eased vaccine requirements throughout France after realizing the decline in COVID cases and numbers. The French Open decided to adopt the same COVID policy, opening up Djokovic’s path to defending his title.
Amelie Muresmo, the tournament director, said Wednesday that nothing was stopping Djokovic from participating in the French Open.

Gilles Moretton, president of French Tennis Federation said the tournament would increase restrictions if cases begin to spike. However, Djokovic’s prospects look very bright. Djokovic had stated previously that he wouldn’t get vaccinated just to pursue titles, and that his main goal was sticking with his convictions. These two elements no longer need to be inseparable.
“Yes, that is the price I am willing to pay,” Djokovic said in February when asked if he was ready to be excluded from tournaments because he is unvaccinated. “The principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else. My body is my most important organ.
“I was never against vaccination,” (he’d had vaccines as a child), “but I’ve always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body.”
