New York City, look out!
We all know that you’re the city that never sleeps, the Big Apple, if you can make it there you can make it anywhere. Yet why would you want to make it there with high taxes, high crime, and your elected officials constantly making dumb PR-based moves that are supposed to improve the quality of everyday life in the city but don’t?
The answer, of course, is that you wouldn’t and that is why this latest move by your newly elected Mayor, Eric Adams, smacks of so many things but ultimately it comes down to desperation. In fact, it reeks of such desperation, I almost want to feel bad for the guy but ultimately I’m just going to feel bad for the people of the City of New York who decided to elect this guy and have to deal with him for the next three-and-a-half years.
What are you asking?
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his staff decided that it was a good idea to use taxpayer funds to promote Florida. Given that so many New Yorkers are moving away, this actually makes good sense. Florida.
This campaign, which is utterly vapid and misguided, aims to encourage people to relocate to New York City from Florida. Adams and his associates believe you’ll get people moving from Florida, which has lower taxes and more favorable weather, to New York City, where there are high taxes, criminality, and really bad weather.
Adams and his team are reminded that they can use your words. GAY Florida. This statement has never been used in Florida.
This is a poor plan.
The tweet that was sent from New York City’s announcement regarding the clown show idea is here.
We have a message for Florida’s LGBTQ+ community: come to a city where you can be you. Get involved now at City Hall. https://t.co/0OOg7zigSB

Red State was written by a colleague yesterday. It is a piece in which he demolished all that the left has done with this. Don’t Say Gay nonsense. My colleague Jim Thompson, The ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Contagion Is Killing the Left – Good…
It doubled or tripled its size. They’ve consistently lied about the contents of the bill. However, more people have read the bill and found out that they are lying. Biden has jumped in, claiming that it will “harm trans kids.” But Americans who read the bill know that’s a lie. Jen Psaki is determined to stop it. She knows it’s a dagger in the heart. They know that it doesn’t do any of those things. The “Don’t Say Gay” crowd kept repeating the lie. Quietly, America said, “Why do you want sexualize children?”
I’ve never seen the left so completely misread the room. This issue isn’t about compassion or saying “gay.” Everyone feels compassion for children. Adults who sexualize children are something I feel strongly about. My position appears to be the predominant view. But the left won’t let go.
New York City has launched a digital advertising campaign designed to encourage Floridians from Florida to relocate to New York City. The digital poster that repeats the word “Gay” is the message. The idea that anyone living in Florida would move to the most expensive city in the US so they can say “gay” is absurd — but that, apparently, is the message of New York City.
As you can see from the excerpt above, Jim absolutely obliterates the left’s hope that this idiotic lie that you can’t say the word “gay” in Florida will pay dividends for them. Mayor Adams doubles down the stupidity Jim wrote about in his first term by claiming that it will encourage anyone to move to New York City.
You are a good person to have that hope.
The majority of major crimes statistics are now up. This year, 40%Your first action as mayor was to take photos on the subway in order to convince others that it was safe.
Just ignore the high crime and the high taxes and move to New York City confident of the fact that you can scream “gay, gay, gay, gay, gay!” at the top of your lungs and you won’t be arrested. Honestly, that’s your selling point?
I’m going to make a note to check back in on this subject a year from now and see if there are any tractable statistics showing if people from Florida moved to New York City based on this campaign. I have a feeling (and these are often right-on) that the campaign is simply wasting money and that New York City residents are perfectly content with it.
You can also reach me via my bio here if you have any questions about the time it will take to see Eric Adams enjoying Florida’s warm weather and all its amenities.
I have a feeling it won’t be long.
