New Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears DESTROYS Joy Reid Over Her Left-Wing Hate

Maybe no MSNBC employee suffered more Tuesday night from the election results than anyone else ReidOutJoy Reid was Joy Reid’s host. Her vile bile drove her crazy as she called Republicans racists, “dangerous” human beings, and “national security” threats. On Wednesday, Virginia Lieutenant Governor-elect Winsome Sears, (R), retorted and asked her for a debate. “if she is woman enough to do”It.

Sears’ historical candidacy was ignored by Reid and her primetime co-hosts as Reid ran for the office of Black lieutenant governor. She also became the first female Black woman to be elected to statewide office within the Old Dominion.

Sears was on The StoryMartha MacCallum, host of Martha MacCallum, gave Martha an example from Reid’s MSNBC comments about the Youngkin/Sears ticket (which was covered by us) HereNewsBusters:

These Republicans must be criticized. This isn’t a political party which disagrees with us about tax policy. That, at this point, they’re dangerous. They’re dangerous to our national security because stoking that white nationalism eventually leads to the hard-core stuff.

Sears’s reaction was almost immediate: “I wish Joy Reid would invite me on her show. I — let’s see if he is woman enough to do that.”

Adding that she’d “go in a heartbeat and we’d have a real discussion without Joy speaking about me behind my back,” Sears called out her claims about Sears’s party being racist before closing with a direct statement to Reid:

Her talk is about white supremacy. Do you know she ran against white supremacists? Joy. You can’t deny it. Take the time to get your facts right and then talk to me. I’m waiting for you.

MacCallum’s response? Well, it mirrored that of just about anyone who’s watched that clip: “Well, we hope she takes you up on it. You have a lot to say and a lot of people very inspired by your message last night and your win.”

Earlier in the segment, Sears more broadly confronted the left’s fixation on race (click “expand”):

[W]We are focusing too much on race in our discussions, which only serves to further divide us. Unfortunately, it is being used by politicians to further their evil purposes. If we stop looking at race and just looking at people because, you see, I’m destroying all the narratives about race. You can see me! Take a look at me. In the event of any unfortunate events, I’m only a heartbeat from the governorship. And how are you going to tell me I am a victim…I wasn’t not born here. This is not my culture, not my country, but it allowed me — America allowed me to come and do for myself and my family. When I wanted to go to college, three of my children were under 5. He had earned his degree and so my husband got a job that was less expensive. To get me to college, I put one my children on a bike. No one is going to say that I don’t understand what it means to be poor. You’re looking at the American dream! So, we can do better and it’s not 1963…We’re always going to have problems. I understand. I’m not saying we are perfect but you can see those people at the border right now, trying to get in.

WISDOM SEARS [from her victory speech]: When I joined the Marine Corps, I was still a Jamaican, but this country had done so much for me, I was willing — willing to die for this country. [SCREEN WIPE]U.S.A

CROWD: United States-A U-S.A!

MACCALLUM – Republican Winsome Sears gives an emotional speech to celebrate Virginians’ election of her to the post as lieutenant governor. Let’s bring in Virginia’s lieutenant governor-elect, Winsome Sears. We are very pleased to have your presence with us. We are very proud of you for your victory. It was great to see your lovely family receiving the lieutenant Governor win. Do you remember how it felt to wake up this morning?

SEARS: We are tired. [LAUGHS]

[MACCALLUM LAUGHS]

SEARS: I had only slept for maybe two hours and here comes the media wanting to talk about the race and I’m thinking, it feels like I’m campaigning all over again. My voice was deteriorating. I was losing my voice.

MACCALLUM: Yes.

SEARS: I was sure I’d be able sleep in my own bed, but no, sir.

MACCALLUM: No sir, indeed. So, you know, obviously, there’s a lot of talk. Perhaps you heard it in the tease that preceded our segment. You are the first woman of color, woman, lieutenant governor of — of Virginia. And I thought it was very interesting last night when you just said, you know, I am black, if you haven’t noticed — I think were your words — and then you said, but it’s not about that. Was that what you meant?

SEARS: This is because we continue to split us by framing so many problems in terms of race. Unfortunately, politicians use it to further their evil ends. If we stop looking at race and just looking at people because, you see, I’m destroying all the narratives about race. You can see me! Take a look at me. In the event that anything should happen to the governor, I’m only a heartbeat from the governorship. How are you going tell me that I’m a victim? I did nothing to get to this point except to stay at school and to study. I took advantage the many opportunities available in America. I wasn’t not born here. This is not my culture, not my country, but it allowed me — America allowed me to come and do for myself and my family. When I wanted to go to college, three of my children were under 5. Because he had already earned his degree, my husband chose a less lucrative job so that he could remain at home. To get me to college, I put one my children on a bike. No one is going to say that I don’t understand what it means to be poor. You’re looking at the American dream! We can achieve better. It’s not 1963, when my dad arrived at the peak of Civil Rights Movement. This was 17 days after Martin Luther King Jr. made his I Have a Dream speech. We’re better than that. We’re always going to have problems. I understand. I’m not saying we are perfect but you can see those people at the border right now, trying to get in. They’re dying to get in because they know, if they can put a foot on American soil, the trajectory of their lives will change, just as it did for my father.

MACCALLUM: You know, here’s what Joy Reid said last night and I just want to get a quick response from, if I can, over on MSNBC about the Youngkin win and your win. This is what you should see.

JOY REID [on MSNBC, 11/03/21]It is important to recognize that Republicans can be very dangerous. It is not just another party with a different tax policy. That, at this point, they’re dangerous. They’re dangerous to our national security because stoking that white nationalism eventually leads to the hard-core stuff.

MACCALLUM: What was your reaction, Ms. Sears to this?

SEARS: Joy Reid should invite me to her show. I — let’s see if she is woman enough to do that. I’d go in a heartbeat and we’d have a real discussion without Joy speaking about me behind my back, if you will. It’s about white supremacy. Do you know she ran against white supremacists? Joy. You can’t deny it. Take the time to get your facts right and then talk to me. I’m waiting for you.

MACCALLUM. We are glad she took you up on that offer. There is so much you can say, and many were inspired by the message that you delivered last night. Winsome Sears, the new Lieutenant Governor, when you’re sworn, of the state of Virginia — of the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are grateful for your presence today. It is a pleasure to have you as a guest in the future. Thank you, ma’am

SEARS: Martha, thank you.

MACCALLUM: You bet.

SEARS: We are grateful to all your viewers.

MACCALLUM: You bet. Thanks. We are very proud of you.
