New Report Shows Push for Electric Cars Is Actually Killing Rainforests – Opinion

CNN managed to do a random act in journalism and report some climate data which showed the Earth warmed up decades before it had been reported. This revelation manages to both throw off climate modeling, as well as make the claim that mankind’s technology was the root cause of…well, everything going wrong.

NBC News is also joining the fray, surprising everyone by revealing yet another shocking truth. The new report reveals that the need for more raw nickel ore – driven by the explosive market for lithium batteries – is causing the eradication of pristine rainforests in the Philippines. There is no gradual decline in acreage. Huge areas of forest are being cut down as the nickel mines grow at a pace far faster than global warming.

This is very worrying news because automakers as well other appliance and machinery makers are also moving towards switching to electric vehicles. Then factor in President Biden’s desire to completely revamp our nation’s transportation methods, pushing for the far more expansive use of electric transportation, and this is a problem that will not only worsen but greatly expand.

Already this impact has been deep, and only becoming more alarming, according to NBC News’ report.

A nickel mine stretching nearly 4 square miles scars the forest above Bartolome’s farmland. Rio Tuba’s mine plays an important role in meeting global demand. This is partly due to the explosive growth of electric vehicles.

Miles. It has a direct impact on the ecosystem and is far more severe than any dire warnings we were given to support the end of fossil fuels. Consider, all the promises of eradication of rainforests have always been cloaked in dire predictions – our grandchildren may not see the majesty of these environments if something is not done soon, go the platitudes.

It sure does sound like the gradual death they thought was possible is the most preferred option. This is especially true when you consider how hungry the world is for these environmentally friendly cars.

Rio Tuba’s nickel demand is on the rise and the Rio Tuba mining company may be expanding into the forest, adding approximately 10 km to its existing footprint. Local environmentalists fear that it will wipe out the forest’s fragile ecosystem and increase toxic runoff into the rivers that flow past the farmland down below, jeopardizing the crops.

This paradox is amazing, but it just adds to the increasing number of government reactions and claims that has led to decision that has had an adverse impact on the goal of saving our planet. There are so many that it is hard to believe the planet will survive all the attempts to stop its demise.

My state, Florida is seeing more people abandon curbside recycling. Because recycling almost all products is bad for the planet, as has been proven over a long time. Starting with the vehicles, which need to pick up the items – nearly 200,000 nationwide burning fossil fuels daily. Next, there’s the dirty truth:Recycle plants are known to be air polluting.

Due to the presence of mixed media or cross-contamination in plastic, a lot of it cannot be recycled. Many plastic products are available, and many are incompatible. To ensure proper use of these materials, sorting and segregating is important. In order to preserve glass, it must be cleaned. Separating the colors is also necessary. The most practical base materials to recycle are steel and aluminum.

Another Utopian source of energy that is failing to bring us to the promised land of renewables, windfarms. Whether it is the evisceration of bird flocks or the susceptibility of the grid to adverse weather – as seen in Texas last winter – these sources have yet to match the energy needed to create, install, and maintain their operation.

Many people are not able to accurately evaluate solar cells as a promised solution. Energy required to make them It is important to consider their efficacy, because they often start with an idea. “carbon debt”. You then have to deal with the emissions that result from these processes, which can create some gasses more harmful than CO2. You then need to deal with the outmoded cells, which require recycling, which involves many of the same harmful methods that were used in their creation.

Solar panels line farmland that former President Jimmy Carter owns in his hometown of Plains, Ga., as a reporter walks through before a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017.

In practice, even the idea of electric cars saving the earth is not grounded in logic. Although the cars themselves can produce far less carbon dioxide than the rest of us, how about the power plant that produces the electricity needed to recharge them? It is possible for your car to emit less CO2 if it does not come from a nuclear reactor. The net effect is that the clean vehicle simply transfers the responsibility of reducing emissions elsewhere.

This is what caused the story about nickel mining to strip out rainforests that were meant to be preserved. It was a result of people jumping into solutions without properly researching them. Because of the strong desire to shift away from fossil fuels, decisions are taken to stop production. This can have unintended consequences, like destroying miles upon miles of rainforest, all in the name and preservation of the environment.

One thing is clear in all this — environmentalists being wrong is a renewable resource
