NFL player Jaylon Ferguson died as the result of a drug overdose, Day 2 of NBA free agency wasn’t nearly as busy as Day 1, but a big trade took place between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz. Let’s start with the NFL tonight.

NFL Roundup:

The NFL has some sad news today. Jaylon Ferguson, a Baltimore Ravens defensive end was reported to have died. According to the Maryland Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, the death was ruled accidental and deemed to be caused by a combination of fentanyl and cocaine. Ferguson was 26.

ESPN has ranked every 32 NFL team. Top five were the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. The NFL’s season starts September 8.

NBA Roundup:

One of the most significant trades was made by the Utah Jazz for Rudy Gobert, center, to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Malik Beasley and Patrick Beverley. Walker Kessler, Leandro Bormaro and four draft picks were also traded. Gobert was a huge return to the Jazz, and the Timberwolves will be relying on Karl-Anthony Towns as their power forward/center pair. Jazz are not considering trading Donovan Mitchell, their star guard.

Deandre Anne Ayton is a center for the Jazz. Ayton has not yet been granted a contract extension by the Suns. Also, the Jazz reached out for information from Toronto Raptors concerning Gary Trent Jr.

The Boston Celtics made the second largest trade of the day, trading Malcolm Brogdon to them for Daniel Theis and Aaron Nesmith. They also received Nik Stauskas (Nik Stauskas), Malik Fitts (Juwan Morgan), and a draft pick in the 2023-23 season. This was a great trade for the Celtics, as they didn’t give up many role players and kept their core group while adding a solid role player who can play starter minutes.

Kevin Huerter, a Hawks player, was traded to Sacramento Kings in exchange for Justin Holiday, Mo Harkless and a first round pick. Huerter, who was also acquired by the Kings yesterday, is an excellent addition to their roster.

Zach Lavine agreed to a 5-year deal worth $215.2 Million with the Chicago Bulls. After being approached by several teams, Lavine decided to sign a long-term deal with the Bulls.

Jusuf Nukic has signed a $70 million, four-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. Nurkic will remain a big part of the Blazers’ game plan.

John Wall has signed a $23.2 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2-year agreement. Wall will be joined by star forwards Kawhi Lennon and Paul George to form a large trio.

LiAngelo ball will join the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Summer League.

Donte D’Vincenzo agreed to a $2.3 million, 2-year contract with the Golden State Warriors.

JalenSmith signed a contract for two years with the Indiana Pacers.

Bryn Forbes has signed for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Damion Lee has signed a one year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

To remain in Golden State, Kevon Looney has signed a $25.5 million three-year deal. Looney was a big part of the Warriors’ championship run.

Robin Lopez signed a one year deal with Cleveland Cavaliers.

Gary Payton II, a $28 million contract signed with the Portland Trail Blazers for a three year deal. Blazers have added a defense-minded player to their roster, Damian Lillard.

Mitchell Robinson was resigned by the New York Knicks on a $60 million, four-year deal. Robinson, the Knicks first draft pick since 1994 has signed a second contract.

Bruce Brown has signed a $13 Million+, two-year deal with Denver Nuggets.

Aaron Holiday has signed a one year deal with Atlanta Hawks.

Bol Bol has signed a 2-year contract with the Orlando Magic.

Otto Porter Jr. has signed a 2-year contract with the Toronto Raptors. Raptors sign another 3-and-3 player.

Derrick Jones has signed a $6.6 Million, two-year deal with Chicago Bulls.

Danillo Galinari wants to be with the Boston Celtics when the San Antonio Spurs are done with his release.
