His Apple TV Series Problem: Jon Stewart surely caused jaws to drop with a strong critique of how the media were guilty of “relentless hyperbole” in describing every mini-scoop as a “bombshell” during the Russian collusion probe of independent counsel Robert Mueller.
Nicholas Fondacaro joined the program to talk about Stewart’s mockery of the media. He said that the media “stand ready betwixt America, peril, and a bulwark against creeping fascism.” The comedian played a snippet of the Washington PostAd narrated first by Tom Hanks. Then, he made some masturbating hand gestures.
While Stewart first attacked Fox as a shameless media arm of the conservatives, he looked back on all the “worse than Watergate” Mueller hype and employed several video-clip packages to ridiculed the idea that this deserved to be the top story that crowded out all the other news. It was a slow buildup that culminated in the “jailgasm,” but it ended with a whimper and not a bang.
