Nets Hype FOURTH COVID Shot, Blame Loosened Restrictions on Case Spikes

The evening newscasts briefly returned to the previous obsession on Tuesday after spending several weeks covering the Russian invasion in Ukraine. They were hyping the COVID pandemic, pushing the endless mask mandates and vaccinations upon a public that wants to live a normal life.

You can find more information here NBC Nightly News, which had the most over-the-top coverage, they started with anchor Lester Holt reporting how Pfizer has asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “ to authorize a fourth COVID vaccine shot for older Americans.” He argued that there have been troubling signs overseas that “raise fears the U.S. may be headed for another spike.”

Miguel Almaguer (national correspondent) asked Taison bell, University of Virginia Department of Critical Care and Infectious Disease, whether Americans are being treated. “willing to get a second booster or a fourth shot?”

Bell said that “we’ve seen problems with people getting their first booster. I mean we only have 50 percent of eligible people boosted right now, that’s already a big problem.”

Almaguer announced then that Doctor Anthony Fauci was being employed. “attributes three major factors behind England’s rise. Although Omicron subvariant ba.2 may be more transmittable, it is not necessarily less severe. Other mandates, such as not masking indoors anymore, can also have an impact. As is waning immunity from vaccination or prior infection.”

On ABC’s World News Tonight, which also covered Pfizer’s recommendation that Americans get a fourth COVID shot, had national correspondent Stephaine Ramos interview Doctor Ashish Jha about what direction the COVID pandemic is expected to go.

Just like Fauci’s statement on NBC, Jha also blamed not social distancing or masking for the spike in COVID cases: “they have gotten rid of all mitigation measures, no masking, no distancing I think that creates some susceptibility in that context. Maybe a little bit of waning immunity, as well.”

Ramos lamented that Dr. Jha had worried at the conclusion of her report “so many Americans are still vulnerable. He says many more people need to get vaccinated or boosted.”

In the meantime, CBS Evening News, anchor Norah O’Donnell just briefly hyped the possibility of a fourth vaccine:

Today’s pandemic headlines are numerous. Just in: Pfizer has applied to FDA for approval for a COVID booster that would be beneficial for senior citizens. To maximize protection for seniors 65 years and over, it would be the fourth dose. As the C.D.C tracks new COVID cases it reports that approximately one fourth of new COVIDs in the U.S. are caused by the Omicron variant ba.2.

Leftist media wants us to never return to normal. They would have Americans forever masked, disintegrating socially and getting a COVID booster shot.

LESTER HOLTS: Pfizer has asked the FDA for authorization to give a fourth COVID shot to older Americans. There are troubling indications that the U.S. could be heading for another surge, according to some reports. Miguel Almaguer.

MIGUEL AMAGUER: Tonight, NBC News confirmed that Pfizer had submitted additional data to FDA in order to obtain emergency use authorization. They are hoping to get a second COVID booster shot approved for Americans over 65. According to the company’s CEO, a fourth dose would significantly improve infection protection. Do Americans actually want to have a second shot or third?

DR. TAISON Bell (UNIVERSITY of Virginia CRITICAL CARE and INFECTIOUS DIISEASE PHYSICIAN),: We’ve had problems with people receiving their first booster. We only have 50% of the eligible patients boosted at present, so that is a huge problem.

ALMAGUER. Pfizer is pushing as COVID case numbers spike around the globe. China sees 377 percent more cases. Over 52 percent of infections in the UK have risen. Dr. Fauci points out three factors responsible for England’s rapid rise. Omicron Subvariant ba.2 has a higher transmissibility, but not necessarily more severe. Other mandates, such as not masking indoors anymore, can also have an impact. The same goes for waning immunity to prior infections or vaccinations. The COVID risk is low across the country so the White House has confirmed that Doug Emhoff (the Second Gentleman) tested positive for COVID. Today, the Vice President was negative. Lester?

DAVID MUIR – Pfizer has requested emergency authorization for a second booster just as we arrived on air. Tonight, Dr. Jha was asked about the possibility of another booster and what Israeli data shows.

(…)

STEPHANIE RAMOS. Overseas COVID has been resurging. China is currently facing its largest pandemic outbreak since 2003. For 51 million more people, new restrictions are in place. European countries are seeing a rise in COVIDs, partly due to Omicron, ba.2.

DR. ASHISH JHA : We’ve noticed an increase in cases throughout Europe. This is really due to a few factors. The first is ba.2, the sub-variant Omicron now dominant in Europe. I believe it’s more transmissible. That’s causing a bit of an uptick. It is obvious that they have removed all mitigation measures. There was no masking or distancing. That creates some susceptibility. There may be a slight waning of immunity. This combination may be the reason for the increase in European cases.

(…)

RAMOS:  David, Dr. Jha says what worries him the most is that so many Americans are still vulnerable. He believes that many people must be vaccinated. It is still a pandemic, he says, and we are able to control it more effectively now that we know how. David?
