NBC’s Todd Cues Up AOC to Impeach Gorsuch & Kavanaugh Over Abortion Decision

The leftist media frenzy continued on Sunday over the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe V. Wade On NBC’s Meet the Press, anchor Chuck Todd carried the dishonest leftist narrative that began to spread immediately after the decision was announced that Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch lied under oath during their confirmation hearings when they said Roe v. Wade was settled law.

Todd was happy to use Democrat West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin’s recent statement claiming he was lied to by the two justices: “I want to put up the Joe Manchin quote in particular. Here is his reaction. He said that they had testified under oath because he used this word. He made sure that was in his release.”

In an interview with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Todd asked her if she thinks “the House Judiciary Committee should begin the process of an investigation” into Kavanaugh and Gorsuch.

“If we allow Supreme Court nominees to lie under oath and secure lifetime appointments to the highest court of the land and then issue, without basis, if you read these opinions, issue without basis, rulings that deeply undermine the human civil rights of the majority of Americans, we must see that through” Cortez said.

She added that “there must be consequences for such a deeply destabilizing action and hostile takeover of our democratic institutions” and “what makes it particularly dangerous is that it sends a blaring signal to all future nominees that they can now lie to duly elected members of the United States Senate in order to secure supreme court confirmations, and seats on the Supreme Court.”

Todd jumped in to ask if she thinks “lying in a confirmation hearing is an impeachable offense.”

Cortez responded that “lying under oath is an impeachable offense” and “that this is something that should be very seriously considered, including by Senators like Joe Manchin and Susan Collins.”

The truth is that the answers Justices Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Gorsuch provided during their confirmation hearings were common answers given by every Supreme Court nominee. Roe v. WadeIt was settled precedent but it was not. Plessy v FergusonIt was overturned by the Supreme Court. Brown v. Board of Education. Brown was justly passed without any one crying.

CHUCK TODD (Reply to Chuck Tod): Let me put the Joe Manchin quote up in particular. Here is his reaction. His reaction. He confirmed that in his release. You believe? Okay, it sounds like he believes that they lied. He feels as though they did.

ALEXANDRIA OCASIO COLEZ: They lied.

TODD

CORTEZ. We must not allow Supreme Court nominees, who lie under oath, to be appointed to lifetime positions on the highest court in the land, and then, after reading these opinions and releasing without foundation, decisions that seriously undermine the civil rights of most Americans’ human civil liberties, we have to make sure that we do so. It must have consequences. This is a highly destabilizing and hostile takeover against our democratic institutions. What makes this particularly dangerous is the signal it sends to future nominees: they are now allowed to lie to the United States Senate to get supreme court confirmations and Supreme Court seats.

TODD: Are you convinced that lying during a confirmation hearing constitutes an impeachable offense

CORTEZ: Yes. It is my belief. Lying under oath I consider an impeachable crime. Violation of federal law, and failing to disclose income received by political groups as Clarence Thomas years ago are both possible impeachable offenses. Refusing to recuse yourself in cases where one is clearly involved in conflict of interest or with family members, are impeachable offenses.
