Sunday Meet the Press Chuck Todd was the anchor and started the show by sharing bad news with his friends at the White House, the Democrat Party and other Democrats. A NBC poll shows that Democrats will be facing a “shellacking” in November if prospects do not change.
Todd opened the program by claiming that President Biden’s Wednesday news conference was intended to launch a second year reset of his presidency and recapture his political identity. The big takeaway of the poll was then covered by Todd. “our new NBC News poll suggests Mr. Biden does need a reset because he’s lost his identity a bit. He’s no longer seen as competent and effective, no longer seen as a good commander in chief, or perhaps most damaging, as easy-going and likable.”
The NBC host went then to the large board, which showed the breakdown of poll results. Todd said, “Just 5% of Americans believe that Mr. Biden performed better than they expected in his role as President. This is one of our lowests, most firsts and least surprising results.” Todd created a new segment, “Meet the Midterms”, in which he’ll be reporting on the forthcoming midterm elections every day throughout the year.
A new measure to predict which party will win the next election is the “midterm-meter,” which he also announced. It consists of the “three most important poll numbers that you should know.” Todd began by stating the number he considered to be the most crucial.
With a job approval rating of 43%, President Obama is currently in the lead. Historical evidence shows that this type of president approval rating can lead to the destruction of the party currently in power. What about the national mood? This is what I’m going to show you. We are currently at 72%, which is the nation on the incorrect track. Second poll in a row where we’ve been over 70%.
Todd said that “this is only the third time in our poll’s history over 30 years where we’ve had two tracks that off.” Todd reiterated how terrible this is for Biden, and all the Democrats it puts them in “shellacking territory.”
This metric measures which party voters want to control Congress. This is not the party that Democrats currently do the best in. However, Todd pointed out they have only one other. “one-point advantage there but most analysts will tell you Democrats have to be up about four or five due to their – do to redistricting in order to actually hold the House.”
He concluded his analysis of poll results by drawing the conclusion every rational person can draw, one that NBC viewers would be shocked to hear:
The Democrats are currently in territory that is a shellacking zone for two of the three important indexes. At the first year of President Obama’s presidency, this is dangerous territory for both the president and the party.
Next, Todd did a series of interviews with Georgia voters dissatisfied about Biden’s performance as president. Stanley Herman and Jason Murphy were two of the people Todd talked to. Murphy expressed concern about Biden “I think he’s listening to too many liberals.” Herman stated that Biden would be the next president. “He was elected with the promise of bipartisanship, but it takes two to Tango, and I feel he has hit a wall with that promise.”
Todd was impressed by the segment that Biden aired on his declining poll numbers, and interviewed voters who want him to moderate. Todd felt it was prudent to immediately reach out to Bernie Sanders to get his opinion on next steps.
This stuff is impossible to make up! Todd has a great sense of humor.
This segment of Chuck Todd admitting Biden is failing, interviewing voters who want Biden to be moderate, and then immediately interviewing a socialist was brought to you by Fidelity & Geico. You can contact them about biased news that they support by linking their information.

CHUCK TODD – And a happy Sunday morning. The news conference that President Biden held on Wednesday was intended to launch a second year reset for his presidency. It also aimed at regaining his political identity. But our new NBC News poll suggests Mr. Biden does need a reset because he’s lost his identity a bit. He’s no longer seen as competent and effective, no longer seen as a good commander in chief, or perhaps most damaging, as easy-going and likable. Only 5% said that Mr. Biden performed better than they expected in his role as President. This is one of our lowest, firsts and least surprising results. And as we kick off our “Meet the Midterms” coverage heading into November, the NBC political unit developed what we’re calling a midterm meter it’s based on previous election cycles. It’s basically three poll numbers you need to know best. The direction of the midterms is perhaps the most crucial number. It’s job approval here, the President’s job approval rating sitting at 43%. Historical evidence shows that this type of approval rating for the president leads to an economic shellacking of the party at power. What about the national mood? This is what I’m going to show you. We are currently at 72%, which is the nation on the incorrect track. Second poll in a row where we’ve been over 70%.
Only the third time we have seen two of these tracks in our poll history, spanning 30 years. You would be in trouble if you were to do that again. However, Democrats still have a good record on Congress. Basically, a dead heat, one point advantage there but most analysts will tell you Democrats have to be up about four or five due to their – do to redistricting in order to actually hold the House here, so that puts it in the middle. You can see that two of our most crucial indexes, which are the Democrats’ three main indicators, is in shellacking territory at this moment. At the first year of President Obama’s presidency, this is dangerous territory for both the president and the party.
