NBC Reporter: Democrat Outreach to Florida’s Venezuelan Exiles Is a ‘Lead Balloon’

Biden is proposing a number of ideas to reduce the price spike for gas. One idea would be to resume oil imports to Venezuela. That would require lifting sanctions that the United States has placed on the the country, run by thuggish dictator Nicolás Maduro. On March 5th, Biden sent a team to Caracas to negotiate with Maduro, who promptly touted the propaganda coup of the legitimacy that they had bestowed on him.

The Thursday eveningMorning Joe, Marc Caputo, a former Politico scribe who’s now an NBC correspondent in Florida, reported on the possible reopening of Venezuelan oil imports.  The exiled Venezuelans living in Florida must be convinced that Maduro is possible. They tend to be about as antagonistic to Maduro as Cuban exiles were to Fidel Castro.

Democrats want to believe that all Hispanic communities vote Democrat. But Caputo absolutely blasted Biden for his efforts to reach out and assist the Venezuelan community of Florida through the Maduro Initiative.

CAPUTO: There is a huge exile community in Venezuela. The Biden administrationBefore that was the Biden campaign and then the Florida Democratic party. They haven’t done any successful outreach or grassroots team building to the Venezuelan exiles.

You must have your political organization start selling the idea to your constituents and base if you wish to sort of change the course and begin to negotiate with Maduro who, according to all reports, is a dictator. You can also find out more about And Biden did not do any of the spadework.None of these things have been accomplished by the Florida Democratic party.

Caputo pointed out that some Florida Democrats, such as Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, have been questioning this direction. He said:

You might also want your people on the state side if you plan to establish international relations.

So far There is no evidence to suggest that Biden or Democrats have done this. Now, this is your chance to make a proposal. Biden’s talks in South Florida have been as successful as any lead balloon.

Joe Scarborough tried to sound grateful, but in bidding him goodbye, Scarborough thanked him for his “fascinating insights, Particularly what’s happening with NASA.”

That was a reference to the issue of the American astronaut on the international space station shared with Russia, and potentially threatening statements that the Russians have made about the situation.

Scarborough wanted Caputo’s “fascinating insights” on this. Biden’s Florida failings were not discussed.

On Morning Joe, NBC reporter Marc Caputo’s comments were sponsored in part by Liberty Mutual and Comcast.

JOE SCARBOROUGH : Marc, let us talk about an obvious issue. America, Europe trying to escape dependence on Russian oil. It’s obvious that you cover Florida. How would the United States open up trade to Venezuela, I wonder? Does that seem politically impossible?

MARC CAPUTO (Major): It is met with many objections in South Florida. There is a large exile group from Venezuela. The Biden administrationBefore that was the Biden campaign and then the Florida Democratic party. They’ve done very little outreach and grassroots building for the Venezuelan exile community.

If you are looking to turn the tide and negotiate with Maduro again, which is by all accounts a dictatorship, your political operations must start selling this to your people and to your base. It’s also possible to make a political operation that sells this idea to your own people and base. Biden did not do any of the spadework.None of this has been done by Florida Democrats, and many Florida Democrats are against it. Nicky Freed has, among other things, expressed concern about it as the commissioner for agriculture. I believe Debbie Wasserman Schultz has concerns as well,  the congresswoman from south Florida. In South Florida, this is facing bipartisan opposition.

Some people believe that it doesn’t matter if the policy works or not. Others think it’s important to have open dialogue with your adversaries and your enemies. If you want those international relations to be successful, it might help to include your state counterparts.

And so far There is no evidence to suggest that Biden or Democrats have done this. Now, this is your chance to make a proposal. These were the discussions that Biden hadMinimum in South Florida It has flown almost as well as a lead balloon.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI

SCARBOROUGH : It’s all right. We are so grateful. Marc Caputo, NBC. Thank you for your excellent reporting. Some fascinating insights, fascinating insights, In particular, with NASA’s current activities.
