NBC Lobbies Liz Cheney: Just Say It’s Better for Dems to Keep Congress!

After Liz Cheney lost her renomination attempt for Congress, NBC repeatedly lobbied Liz Cheney for the presidency. Savannah Guthrie, today’s cohost, repeated the media-made comparison of Cheney as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Star WarsTrump is Darth Vader.

Guthrie deemed “64 percent” of Republicans to be election deniers (without citing a source) and then lobbied for Cheney to outright call for Democratic victory in 2022: “That is your red line. This is the list of people who will be coming to Congress, if Republicans win and take control. Given that state of affairs, do you think it would be better for the country if Democrats retained control?”

After the Republican declined, a frustrated Guthrie tried again: “Well, let me try it one more time. HNancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, says that she is concerned about our democracy’s survival if Republicans win November. Do you?”

Cheney declined again and the resulting commotion was escalating. Today host spun the midterms as a “battle for the soul of the Republican Party.” She demanded, “Has that choice been made by Republicans fundamentally?”

Guthrie concluded by comparing Guthrie’s congresswoman to Obi Wan Kenobi.

Finally, we hear that your editorial compared you to Obi Wan Kenobi. Star Wars who said to Darth Vader, essentially as they duked it out, “If you strike me down now, I’ll be stronger in death.” Is that how you see it? You’re stronger in political death this morning?

On Tuesday’s TodayHallie Jackson likened Cheney, as you probably guessed, to Obi Wan Kenneobi.

According to one source, Cheney’s staff are big fans of the recent editorial that made a comparison between air and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Okay, defeated  initially, but ultimately part of the force that works to take down Darth Vader, or in this analogy, Donald Trump.

Guthrie did, however, manage to get one question from Cheney Wednesday in order to demonstrate that difficult questions are possible. This is it:

We all know the old adage “all politics is local” and in focus groups and interviews with reporters, many Wyoming voters said that you lost your way. Trump is all they were interested in and you focused too heavily on Trump. A poll found that 61% of the likely Republican voters said Wyoming was not their focus. This was the problem? What was the problem?

See my article here for more information about how Liz Cheney used to be hated in the media.

GUTHRIE You said that they were coming after you. Trump says he wants to visit Wyoming in order to vote for you in the primaries. And you said, “Bring it on.” They did. Here we are, you’re losing. What do you think? What’s your response today?”

GUTHRIE is back a moment to your ethnicity. We all know the old adage “all politics is local” and in focus groups and interviews with reporters, many Wyoming voters said that you lost your way. Trump was all you were concerned about, and Washington is where your attention went. A poll found that 61% of the likely Republican voters said Wyoming was not their focus. This was the problem? What was the problem?

GUTHRIE – In fact, Republican leader Kevin McCarthy considered this to be a referendum about your work. Trump’s former President said that the vote was an utter rebuke for his previous work. You have stated that you believed Wyoming voters understood the importance of the Constitution’s fidelity. Was that a mistake? Is it possible for people to see the Republican Party differently?

GUTHRIE – The ex-President said that you are now heading to political insignificance. The fight for democracy is still just starting, as you stated. Even though you have already started a political organisation. Let’s be clear about this. Is it something you are considering?

GUTHRIE : Congresswoman. You didn’t respond …. You didn’t reply yes or yes, but that’s okay if it’s something you’re thinking about. Do you think about running for the presidency?

GUTHRIE : Now let’s get back to the first season. Now it’s nearly over. 64 percent of Republicans who won their primaries in the Republican Party are deniers. You have to be careful. This is the person who will be coming to Congress, if Republicans win and take control of Congress. Is it better for America if Democrats retain power?

GUTHRIE (Well, I’ll give it another go). Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, says that she is concerned about the future of democracy in America if Republicans win November. Do you?

GUTHRIE – You’re the latest House Republican, who voted to impeach Trump and is not retaining his seat. Two of the two candidates have been elected in the primaries. The battle for the Republican Party’s soul is a topic that many people talk about. It is up to us to choose whether or not we are loyal to Trump. Is that the fundamental choice made by Republicans?

GUTHRIE Star Wars who said to Darth Vader, essentially as they duked it out, “If you strike me down now, I’ll be stronger in death.” Is that how you see it? You’re stronger in political death this morning?
