Benjy Sarralin (a “policy editor” at NBC News, with a strong following on Twitter (121,000), attracted attention Friday from Republican tweeters for his bold statement that Biden’s polling results are actually bad.
Generally, though I think the public is not fully absorbing what Biden’s numbers look like at this time, it’s not clear that they are. National polls look even worse than state. The majority of presidents are struggling in their initial 2 years. He has many options to get his act together, but the reality is that it’s objectively worse now.

But he did not suggest that he will remain in the low polling number forever. “As of July there were many happy headlines regarding bipartisan infrastructure, economics, and particularly COVID decline. It’s been sausage making, Delta, inflation worries, Afghanistan, and the border since then. Biden’s troubles are not a mystery. But it’s possible that things could get better.
Obviously, the folks at NBC from Chuck Todd on down would like to help Biden “build back better” on his approval rating.
