Adam Silver, China-loving, Social Justice-supporting Commissioner of the NBA is now realizing that mask mandates in some cities are absurd.
Appearing on NBA’s Get Up show on Wednesday morning, Silver offered his thoughts on the continuing drama surrounding Brooklyn Nets Guard Kyrie Irving, who remains unvaccinated despite enormous pressure to get the jab. Irving is currently allowed to play away, however, he cannot participate in Brooklyn games due to a strange city rule. Because of science, however, non-vaccinated players can still play at Barclays Center.
Silver is apparently confused about the purpose of this mandate because it has an inconsistent clause for NBA payers.
Silver stated that the New York law is peculiar because it applies only to home-based players. If that rule really is meant to protect people in the arena it makes no sense for an away player not being vaccinated to play in Barclays, but a home player must be vaccinated. They should examine that ordinance.
Silver’s assessment of the situation could not be more accurate. If the premise of the ordinance is to keep people “safe,” then why are unvaccinated players that do not play for the Nets permitted to lace up for games in Brooklyn? Is Irving exilable?

The fact is, the vast majority of vaccine mandates which our country has attempted to implement and many citizens are trying to apply in their real lives make little sense. Brooklynn could be more consistent if Irving was allowed to make his decision on his court, and not be mocked or outcast.
Irving is a positive, firm believer despite the harsh scrutiny that he has been subject to.
Irving stated to reporters Saturday that there was no guilt he feels. It’s New York City and I am the only one who has to deal. It wouldn’t have been the same situation if I were in another place. We are there because we’re there [mayor] Eric Adams, we have the New York mandate, we have things going on that are real-life circumstances that are not just affecting me, bro.”
