People feel America’s current politics are cruel and obnoxious. However, new billboards appearing in Los Angeles or San Francisco show that they have reached a new low. These new signs use the Uvalde children as political point-scoring devices. The “ads” read: “The Texas Miracle died in Uvalde. Don’t move to Texas,” and feature a menacing young male in a hoodie and sunglasses. These heartless, cruel signs are not known who paid.

As my friend Jennifer O’Connell reported Thursday, Californians are fleeing woke politics, out-of-control crime and high taxes in droves, with many moving to Texas. These signs would seem to be referring to that.
There were 19 children among 21 killed when a madman surrounded the Robb Elementary School, Uvalde and launched a torrent of bullets. Nick Arama told the sad story of these victims. The response of the police to this incident has also been widely criticized. Instead of attacking and defending the gunman, they kept it in check. This was an awful tragedy that shouldn’t be glorified on billboards.
The New York Post has a report on the sign design:
The “Texas Miracle” refers to former Gov. Rick Perry’s description of the state’s regulatory model, which helped it weather the Great Recession. “Don’t mess with Texas,” a favorite motto in the Lone Star State, is rooted in a 1980s anti-littering campaign.
According to recent statistics, the number of Californians fleeing the pandemic did increase with Texas the most visited destination. The recent migration of many tech giants, such as Oracle Corp. and Tesla, may have contributed to this trend.
As Breitbart reports, California shouldn’t be bragging about mass shootings, since the state leads the nation in that category:
California was No. 1 state for “active shooter incidents” in 2021.
Breitbart News reported that California was simultaneously the No. Breitbart News reported that California was simultaneously the No. 1 state in gun control and the No. 1 state for “active shooter incidents.”
Social media reactions were mixed. Many posted snarky comments wishing that Californians would stay put, and not destroy Texas. Some were disgusted by the posters and pointed out how cold-blooded it was.
One of the worst acts of desperation I’ve ever seen in politics. https://t.co/6DoyZjgENW

We’ve seen a lot of ugly politics in the past, in the present, and presumably in the future. These billboards are, however, particularly disturbing to me. The loss of a child is one of most difficult things anyone can experience. They lost everything that day. It is difficult for me to understand the thinking process behind the ad campaign. I’m not one for cancel culture, but I do hope whoever is behind this is revealed, and that they pay the price. While putting up heinous messages isn’t up there with killing people, I still consider these ones quite simply… evil.
