Multiple Participants in White Supremacist Smear Against Glenn Youngkin Allegedly Identified – Opinion

RedState earlier today reported on an egregious, fake smear against Republican Glenn Youngkin. It took place as Youngkin rallied in Charlottesville. The scene was meant to be a call-back to the “Unite the Right” rally some years ago which caused such a political firestorm.

The picture was immediately circulated by Terry McAuliffe campaign staff and media personnel as proof of white supremacist support for the Youngkin campaign. It was clear that the photograph showed the exact opposite.

One of them was black. This would make it seem odd that these men were white supremacists, as I noticed. One of the other men appeared to have been a female. It was all too ideal. The “reporter” who spread the picture claims to have heard them say: “We are all in for Glenn.” Within minutes, McAuliffe’s spokeswoman was on social media saying the picture disqualified Youngkin from the race.

We now know who some of the people involved in the stunt are. It is important to note that identifications made in this article are only a rumor and may not be confirmed.Despite their differences in political views, they seem to be fairly secure. Both have also locked their accounts on Twitter.

Camden Layton, Colleen Wachenfeld, and Camden Layton list that they both work for Virginia Democrats in their bios. Virginia Democrats is the official Democrat Party in Virginia. Given that, it’s probable that the other people in the picture are also paid operatives, not just by some third-party group like The Lincoln Project, but by an organization that directly coordinates with Terry McAuliffe.

My initial article speculated that the McAuliffe campaign members were too quick to grasp this information. It seems likely this was coordinated, with McAuliffe’s staff knowing this would take place. If that’s true, this will go down as one of the most dishonest, despicable political hitjobs in modern history.

It would have been one thing had McAuliffe’s campaign just admitted the picture was meant to be ironic. They instead suggested that they were Youngkin supporters, and that McAuliffe was disqualified for the race because of it. That’s a level of falsehood that even the most contentious campaigns rarely delve into. Candidates tend to try and live in grey areas, even when telling falsehoods, because they have more room. In this case, McAuliffe’s surrogates went full bore with an obvious lie and don’t even appear to be walking it back.

This kind of stupidity is unlikely to move the needle for a state that cares more about critical issues. However, it does demonstrate how desperate McAuliffe’s campaign. Because of the high chance that it will backfire, a campaign who thinks they are winning is not going to do such things. But they pulled the trigger and it is clear that their internals are very serious.
