MSNBC: Lifting Mask Mandates Tough for Dem Governors Because Liberals Wear Them as ID

We must be scientific!

This was the main refrain of Democrats over the last couple years. But, this assertion is changing as we near the midterms. “We must adhere to the political science.” Why? Many Democrats have learned from recent elections in New Jersey and Virginia that maintaining mask mandates can be harmful at the polls. It is being urged by Democrat governors that such mandates be removed or eased.

There is one problem. It may be appealing to the majority of people, but it can alienate the hardcore liberals. They wear masks to maintain their identity and give them power over others. 

It is no surprise that conservative news outlets would report on this strange phenomenon of liberals clinging to their masks but it is also being reported, surprisingly, on MSNBC as we see correspondent Alex Seitz-Wald do while describing this problem to host Hallie Jackson on Thursday.

But that message hasn’t really been that loud because, as you point out, the base is divided. It is not yet common for many Democrats to be there. It will prove difficult for many Democratic leaders and activists to make their base accept that normal is possible.You see, the identities of what it was to be a Democrat and to follow science for the last two years were tied down in following the rules and regulations. And if you didn’t do that, you were, you know, a bad person, you were Ron DeSantis, you were a denier. These Democratic leaders now need to make their base feel at ease by unwinding everything.

Who are those liberals that will wear masks into the future? Perhaps even to 2525, if Man still exists? Joy Behar was one such person. She said that she “would wear a mask” and that it might be something that she could continue to do indefinitely.

Those liberal mask identity markings to virtue signal each other in public are all important even if the masks no longer serve any practical purpose.
