MSNBC Hits Dems From The Left For Accepting GOP Open Borders ‘Myth’

Thursday’s edition Katy Tur Reports on MSNBC attacked Democrats from the left for opposing the Biden Administration’s plan to lift Title 42, which would create chaos at the southern border.

Tur set up NBC correspondent Jacob Soboroff with the news that “Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are criticizing the White House’s decision to end the COVID-era border restriction, but yesterday a federal judge temporarily blocked the lifting of that, that Title 42, for at least the next 14 days. If the court gives its approval, the administration will end this policy on May 23. Joining me now is NBC News correspondent Jacob Soboroff. Jacob, we’re here in Washington. What have you learned today?”

Soboroff claimed to have learned that Democrats are just as bad on immigration as Republicans, “Well Katy, what I’ve learned is both Republicans and Democrats unfortunately are struggling with what is a myth, what is a fallacy. This conversation around open borders in the United States of America.”

He further condemned Democrats for opposing Biden’s plan, “Republicans continue to try to paint the Biden administration as an administration which has thrown the doors to the southwest border open, admitting anyone who wants to come into the country and Democrats quite frankly have appeared to have moderated their messaging away from that fair, safe, humane, orderly, new immigration system the Biden system wanted to create as a reaction to that.”

Soboroff’s source for these assertions was himself:

But, take it from me, somebody who has been down on the southwest border countless times including just over the course of the last few weeks, going to see Ukrainian refugees, the same type of refugees admit leaving Ukraine and going to those countries on NATO’s eastern flank, other than Ukrainian refugees right now, Katy, virtually nobody is getting into the United States of America, not Central Americans, not Mexicans, not Haitians, not Cameroonians and so when you see the secretary of Homeland Security sit there and be pressed by Jim Jordan or whoever it might be with this allegation the Biden administration is perpetrating open borders, it just couldn’t be further from the truth.

Tur then concluded by treating Soboroff’s blurred version of the situation as reality, “This is what happens. You get a reporter who goes down there and sees things with his own eyes. It is very important. Jacob Soboroff. Jacob, thank you very much for being with us.”

Although the border does not remain open at the moment because Title 42 remains in effect, Biden has plans to repeal that. This was meant to be the main point of the segment. Soboroff, an immigrant pretending to be reporter, ignored this.

KATY TUR: And today, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was questioned by the House Judiciary Committee about the Biden Administration’s plan to lift Title 42. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are criticizing the White House’s decision to end the COVID-era border restriction, but yesterday a federal judge temporarily blocked the lifting of that, that Title 42, for at least the next 14 days. The White House plans to repeal the policy by May 23, if allowed by the court.
