On Tuesday night’s The 11th Hour on MSNBC, host Stephanie Ruhle and journalist and CEO of the Nevada Independent Jon Ralston discussed the current economic issues in the country and complained that the Republican Party is blocking Biden’s legislation to bring down costs for Americans, and claimed they have no solutions of their own.
Ruhle set the tone of the segment by asking a rhetorical question to Ralston “are those Republicans offering a different economic solution?” Ruhle continued “come November, the issues that plague our economy — supply chain issues in China, the war in Ukraine — they’re not going away. So what are Republicans offering other than don’t vote for Biden, he’s a stinker?”
Ralston sarcastically replied, “Oh, you want substance now in a political campaign this cycle, Stephanie?”
He then falsely claimed, “they have no answers” and accused the GOP of being “experts in 2020 hindsight and they see an opportunity, here the so-called red wave is coming. And so they’re going to use whatever shibboleth they can think of, to try to pound the Democrats for being responsible for this.”
Ralston wailed “they are not presenting any kind of alternatives to fix the economy. You know they would have to actually hold a substantive discussion. I don’t see that happening.”
Ruhle ended by snarking “they always say, it’s the economy, stupid. What would be smart would be to offer an actual economic solution”
Stopping reckless spending by the government is the first step to solving inflation. That isn’t even a Republican solution, that is common sense.
Ruhle, Ralston and others would have done their research prior to going on television. Ruhle would discover many Republican suggestions for reining in inflation and restoring economic growth.

Eastern, 11:31:33STEPHANIE ROHLE: Do those Republicans offer a better economic solution than the Democrats? I get it, things are really painful right now and Biden’s the guy in the White House. But come November, the issues that plague our economy — supply chain issues in China, the war in Ukraine — they’re not going away. So what are Republicans offering other than don’t vote for Biden, he’s a stinker?
JON RALSTON – Stephanie, what do you desire now?
RUHLE: I’m crazy.
RALSTON: Okay. They have no answers, but they listen. Because they are 2020 experts, they can see an opportunity. The so-called red waves will be coming. And so they’re going to use whatever shibboleth they can think of, to try to pound the Democrats for being responsible for this. They have no other ideas, most of them at the top of this ticket, and they don’t even know what to do about it. By the way, when we talk about the U.S. Senate race, which is pivotal here, Stephanie Cortez Masto, Catherine Cortez Masto, was thought to be one of the less vulnerable Senators. They are now tying her up to Biden. They aren’t offering any alternative solutions to the economic problems. That would require them to have a real substantive debate. It’s not something I can see happening. Those of us who are in media try, however.
RUHLE: It’s always the economy that is stupid. Smart would be to actually offer an economic solution.
